What happens when life stops being comfortable?
In this episode of The Purpose Effect, David gets personal about walking through his own wilderness—anger, financial pressure, disappointment, uncertainty, and the temptation to ask God, “Why me?”
But maybe that's the wrong question.
Psalm 66 reminds us that silver is tried before it is refined. Fire and water come before being brought through to the other side. And sometimes the pressure isn't interrupting our growth—the pressure is where the growth is happening.
David explores the relationship between identity, mindset, purpose, diligence, and integrity, and why difficult seasons can expose what we actually believe. When integrity is high, inspection isn't something to fear. When identity is rooted in Christ, scars become evidence of where we've been—not definitions of who we are.
The challenge is simple:
Don't waste the hard.
If you're going through the fire, come out refined. If you're walking through the wilderness, learn something there. Find people who will sharpen you rather than simply polish you.
Because iron sharpens iron—and comfortable steel doesn't get forged.
