Steven exemplifies the power of believing in yourself, being a humble student, and finding your voice. Steven tells us how he went from spending time in jail, to getting his GED at 28 years old, to consulting at one of the largest firms in the world, Deloitte, and attending Executive Education courses at MIT.
He offers incredible advice for introverts trying to establish themselves as leaders in the workplace and in the world. Steven's story is an inspiring reminder that no matter where you may find yourself, every moment of adversity is an opportunity to learn and grow.

This week's guest, Ben works with elite clients around the Globe from well known Fortune 500 companies, to Special Ops Forces representing five countries as the founder of On Purpose Adventures. His company has served as a driving force for purposeful, unconventional and effective team building for over a decade. He is also the co-founder of cohesion Culture, while being a sought after facilitator, consultant, and speaker. Ben continues to focus his heart, his soul, and his substantial knowledge of cultural wellness into each learning experience.
We discuss his lifelong journey and the changes in philosophies overtime in a refreshingly open and transparent conversation. From changing majors, to leaving a corporate role, to spending 9 months living in a van, to building multiple companies and the acquisition of another.
He offers powerful advice on how to engineer the life you want by focusing on who you want to become and how you want to live, rather than what you want to do. This episode is a must listen, especially for entrepreneurs!

The Pursuit of Self-Actualization is officially back for season 4! This is the first episode of 2023 after a long and much needed hiatus. In this episode we breakdown the flawed logic behind the concept that "it is lonely at the top". We dive into the theme for this season, which is healing. This includes personal healing as well as healing of relationships and entire communities.
The truth is that sometimes healing requires rest, not repair. We breakdown what that means and provide actionable insights that you can implement today to better understand when you need to rest versus when you need to actively repair something that feels broken.
There are also some exciting announcements regarding the future development of the podcast and ways to get free access to resources that will eventually cost money.
We look forward to healing together from this episode forward in 2023.

Doug Noll started as an attorney before walking away from $10 million to pursue his passion and purpose: de-escalation and peacemaking. Doug is the co-founder of the Prison of Peace project. The project involves teaching inmates with life or long-term sentences the emotional skills and tools to be peace makers. The program has had outstanding results including reducing violence within prisons and a 0% recidivism rate among program graduates who get out on parole. This model not only provides hope for the criminal justice system, but reveals what more we can do as individuals to be better listeners for our friends, family members, partners, and children.
Doug made a website special for The Pursuit of Self-Actualization listeners, which is packed with free resources that were created from decades of work and research. The link is provided below:
