Holding all these roles has not been an easy task for Meera Vasudeva. But far from preventing her from flourishing in any of them, the collated learning has allowed Meera to understand, with precise detail, what makes a good educator.

One of the most enlightening conversations we've ever had here on the Qualified Tutor Podcast, from two individuals who know Tourette's as well as anyone else.

Lucy Toghill is Tom’s mum, and has been a SEND teacher for over 15 years. Now, for the past 5 years, she's also been Education Manager at Tourettes Action: the leading support and research charity for people with Tourette’s and their families.

Thomas Toghill, Lucy’s 16-year-old son, was diagnosed with Tourette’s about 10 years ago (first realising the condition in him during the first Lego movie of all places) and has a wonderful tale to tell that will greatly help educators, parents and fellow students understand this condition and be able to support it best.

Over the past year, here in the UK, there have been some fundamental changes in legislation around tutoring and the structure of agencies. Leading the way in support for the industry has been Law Hound, one half of which is the wonderful Steph Barber.

Law Hound was set up by Steph and co-founder Sue Edwards in 2009 and since then, has built a wide-ranging practice that supports small businesses in their growth.

Welcome to the Level Up Teaching Summit 2022 Co-Organisers, Crystal Weber and Tim Gascoigne. One returning and one debut guest combine to discuss ESL teaching and why it matters for all tutors.

Tim and Crystal have known each other for a long time, both with long and storied careers in the online and 'bricks-and-mortar' teaching set-ups. Their work has allowed them both to experience a huge range of teaching environments and create their own businesses that thrive, and help others do the same.

They came together this year to create a special online event to celebrate the lives and work of online tutors, to create positive momentum heading into 2023 and to provide high-quality, year-end CPD for educators.

The result is the Level Up Teaching Summit, held all day (on US Eastern time) on Friday 2nd December.

The story of how one educator and founder developed and built a tutoring platform that has the tutor-student relationship right at its core. This is The Tutor Index and Jason Preece.

With over 12 years in tutoring and as a music teacher, with a DPhil in Music Composition from the University of Oxford (alongside his role as Teaching Assistant there), Jason is currently Assistant Director of Music at a school in Oxford.

Alongside his business partner, Chris Nicholson, Jason founded The Tutor Index last spring, focusing on creating a perfect match between tutors and student.

Omar El Dokani has big plans for tutoring. And at the age of just 20, he has plenty of time to put them into action. Listen in to one of the most exciting young minds in tutoring today.

Omar left school in 2020 and after turning down a place at university, raised funds for his digital networking platform, Interjoin.

The initial stages saw huge growth and, having always planned to extend the Interjoin umbrella into more markets, him and his team launched Interjoin Teach: the one-on-one tutoring platform that matches a huge pool of tutors worldwide with students from the Middle East and Asia, and then into the UK and Europe.

Here, Ludo and Omar discuss what these plans mean for international tutoring in 2022 and what Omar has learnt about finding his way in business at such a young age.

Often, and for too long, the link between cutting-edge research into education and actual education in practice has been too distant, too fractured. Sarah Cottingham is here to change that.

Sarah is a former Teach First teacher-turned-teacher educator, now working at the highly accomplished Ambition Institute where she designs NPQs (National Professional Qualifications).
