Mansfield has broken ground on a $3.6 million project to replace nearly three miles of century-old, four-inch water lines with modern eight-inch mains—work made possible by a narrowly approved quarter-percent income tax and decades of advocacy from local attorney Eric Miller. This first phase will install 14,000 feet of pipe, add 37 fire hydrants, and reconnect 246 homes, improving water pressure and reliability while reducing costly breaks. City officials say it’s the opening step in a 16-year effort to upgrade more than 50 miles of aging mains and give Mansfield one of Ohio’s most up-to-date water systems.
