I want to make it clear that there’s more to being queer than queer. What I mean by this is we are all simply human beings. Whether you are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, straight, cisgender or whatever; we are all just human. Some people seem to think that all we do is cry about LGBT rights, well the reason is because there is a simple need to advocate to get some simple rights, but beyond that we understand that there are bigger issues at play. The polar ice caps are melting. People are starving. There are really big issues going on, so let’s get past all this petty nonsense, grant equal rights and move on to what is really life threatening.

Associate Professor Richard Greggory Johnson III is a progressive author, educator and Fulbright Scholar who focuses on social equity and human rights within public policy and administration. His areas of expertise include race, gender, sexual orientation and social class issues, human resources and higher education management.

As a teacher, Dr. Johnson aims to bring down the walls that he believes often separate academia from the real-life advocacy and action required to bring about social change and justice. He was a Fulbright Scholar in the Government and International Studies Department of the Hong Kong Baptist University and the recipient of five prestigious grants from the United States Department of Education.

Dr. Johnson is a Phi Beta Kappa, a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, a Unitarian Universalist, and self-confessed lover of Dalmatians and the colors black and old gold.

This week on The Queer Life radio show Kaiya Kramer covers all what a title like ‘Gay Agenda, Brainwashing America’s Youth’ actually means.

The dictionary definition for the term red herring is “something, especially a clue, that is or is intended to be misleading or distracting.” I define the term red herring because that’s what the Gay Agenda really is. Do you want to know what the Gay Agenda is? It’s a distraction from the real problems at hand. There’s a powerful minority in this country that says that the Gay Agenda is brainwashing America’s youth to be “converted to homosexuality,” as if that could actually be accomplished. Even if conversion could be accomplished, why would be subject anyone to a lifetime of pain and suffering. The buddha once said that life is pain and suffering, but who are we as the LGBT community to recruit more members into a life of discrimination?

The Gay Agenda, is a message of love and acceptance no matter who you are.

Joshua R. Simmons is a social entrepreneur, marketer, and web developer born and raised in the North Bay. Josh is also an extheist, neuroatypical, bisexual. He lost his religion in 2006, came out in 2008, and learned the meaning of privilege in 2013. Community building has been a theme in Josh’s life, starting early with student government and World of Warcraft. After working as a web developer, frustrated freelancer, and failed startup CEO, over the course of 12 years, he took up community as his profession.

Today Josh serves as the CEO of Web & Interactive Media Professionals (yes, WIMP), a local community helping to connect, educate, and employ local designers, developers, marketers, and other creative professionals. He also works full-time as a Community Manager covering web technology and open source software at O’Reilly Media.

Shanna Butler is a Jungian and somatic inspired psychotherapist and psychological assistant with a private practice in Sebastopol, CA. Shanna has been practicing clinically since 2006 with her Master of Social Work degree and in 2011 returned to the world of academia to pursue a doctoral degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in depth psychology through Pacifica Graduate Institute. Specializations include broadly LGBTQ populations, specifically supporting trans or genderqueer folks and their loved ones, creative and spiritual struggles, relational issues, trauma, and addictions. Along with her private practice Shanna also works at the Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic in Santa Rosa, which is a unique clinic dedicated to affordable mental health services for all people and specializes in both depth and somatic approaches. In addition to practicing therapy Shanna spends her time deep in the realms of research for her doctoral dissertation, whose subject matter pertains to the archetypal nature of gender and gender fluidity and the intersections of culture. Shanna is also an occasional lecturer in a psychology graduate program at John F. Kennedy University in the east bay.

Beyond professional roles Shanna spends as many moments outdoors as possible finding the beaches, rivers and forests to be a places of sacred rejuvenation. Shanna is an avid lover of the tarot, herbal medicine making, creative projects, baking, and reading anything and everything she can get her hands on. Shanna loves her family and friends with fierce abandon and is incredibly grateful for the community of which she is a part. Shanna has a firm belief that she lives with the cutest dog in the world, and she has the pictures to prove it.

I’ll also cover all manner of events concerning Caitlyn Jenner from the trans perspective and help you, the audience, understand what the significance of her coming out as transgender means for mainstream culture and societal understanding. Ryan L Perry, aka “Aristo”

Aristo was born August 14, 1973 in Ripley, Mississippi, to Lonnel and Lillie Perry. He is the oldest of 3 children
Ryan attended Walnut High School, where he graduated in 1991. Immediately after graduation, he attended DeVry University in Atlanta, GA., before joining the United States Air Force in 1996, where he served his country for twelve years.

After leaving the service, he continued to live in Tampa, also known as ‘The Bay Area’, working as a Hairstylist throughout the area, until he opened his own shop under the name of ‘Aristodemos Hair Salon’, which was a major stepping stone into his music career. He made many contacts while owning the salon, which opened the door to several opportunities for him. It was during this time that he first met his awesome producer, Mr. Zehl Valk, who has been a major contributor to his career, and who subsequently produced many of his tracks.
Music has been a passion for Aristo and his family for many years..

Growing up in the Southern Baptist Church as church musician eventually lead him to his love for Techno/ House Music. This has allowed him express his inner feelings through dance and sound.
