The manifold wisdom of God is often manifested through different voices of God’s people, listening and responding to the scripture and the Spirit and one another in conversation. Today our roundtable consists of Sue Eikenberry, Jim Eikenberry, D. Jay, Martin, Tim Doering.

[1:55] What does it mean to lead out of resurrection?

[3:00] Resurrection requires death; death always proceeds resurrection. The Apostle Peter experienced a falling and rising over and over again.

[5:20] As I abide in Christ, my daily failures are restored in His resurrection glory today.

[6:30] If I’m thinking about leading from a place of life, that means I need to be connected to the source of life.

[7:25] Point people to God and make room for people’s gifts.

[8:55] Living according to the Scripture: Jesus is alive. Everything He said is true. Everything about the Hebrew Bible about Jesus is true. 

[10:14] Jesus lives to fill us with God’s own presence.

[12:15] Much of our ministry is just introducing people to the presence of Jesus.

[13:15] Fearless comes with the resurrected Lord; not even death can stop Jesus.

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (John 19:29)

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Reminding God of who He is. Lent Devotional Series - Final Sayings of Jesus, Part 1: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified Jesus there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.” (Luke 23)

“I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people. Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.” But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? [1:10] Relationship dynamics within a church display practical gospel theology more than any creed or belief statement. How do we work together to empower one another rather than simply expect things from one another?

[3:54] The idea that we can just learn the Bible without applying truths deeply in our heart and then except to have a healthy church environment, is just false. That’s emotional immaturity.

[5:27] Discipleship looks like sitting with someone you disagree with, to stop mind reading and assuming you know the motives of another person's heart.

[8:12] The truth of family and forgiveness means that those closest to you will hurt you, you will hurt them, and that healing and love can come from the pain.

[11:00] The real measurables of ministry involve seeing a community and individuals growing in their ability to love people who are not like them, to reconcile with people who they are in tension with, and to care for people who are deeply under privilege and outside our social circles.

[13:50] God working out His mercy through abuse, divorce, and cultural differences.

[20:05] The idea of mental health can’t be disconnected from the other aspects of what it means for us to be human.

[23:20] When we trust that God has blessed us with one another, that there is a reason we are put in this place together, we can press more into God’s will and purpose for our lives.

[25:51] God has called you into a very sacred and beautiful work. He has called you not because you are equipped, but because he can and will equip you. Submit your fears and insecurities before the Lord and with a trusted community.
