  • 011 - Love, Know, Speak, Do w/ Dwight Yoo - S2:E3

“Young leaders often think, especially pastors, oh, it’s my preaching. If I just give these amazing messages, they’re going to come. Less and less is that the reality. Most people are never going to walk into your church building, there’s going to be no interest to go in. So all the more I think, that long obedience in the same direction, even in terms of mission, is you gotta be present, you gotta gain trust, and you can’t microwave that, you can’t just rush that.”

[30:48] “Those who love their dream of a Christian community more than they love the Christian community itself become destroyers of that Christian community even though their personal intentions may be ever so honest, earnest and sacrificial.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  • 010 - Brand Ambassadors of Just Unity w/ Keri Ladouceur - S2:E2

"…we decided that we want to be a community that pursues justice, and that diversity will be an outflow of that. Instead of just pursuing diversity for diversity’s sake, and there’s really good things that as leaders we have to be attentive to that, but when we start talking about justice, and we’re aware, each one of us as individuals, about how were are stewarding our influence or privilege or our access on behalf of other people (male/female, young/old, socio-economic class, racial diversity) there’s all sorts of ways that plays out, that is a core discipleship question every follower of Jesus needs to wrestle with."

    www.newgroundnetwork.org/

    [1:28] Introducing Keri Ladouceur communitychristian.org

[3:45] In this current cultural moment, do you see people more or less willing to connect to the broader Church outside of their normal circles?

[5:10] Losing sleep over the witness of the Church in the West.

[7:40] Principles of integrity to be a winsome witness.

[12:10] www.netzer.org/donate - all donations are tax deductible.

[13:00] Different convictions: what do you do with people who believe you, as a woman, shouldn’t be a leader in the Church?

[15:07] Unity comes with a cost: humility and patience.

[21:20] What is faithfulness in disagreement?

[23:40] The prophetic call is to uncomfortable accountability; values trump convictions.

[25:30] How do you help shape the call to diversity in your local spheres?

    [30:25] Justice on an airplane.

[33:20] The trauma of church life: holding onto faith in the mess of pain.

  • Season 2 Teaser

Season 2 Conversations Begin April 19th!

Last season we spent our time laying theological foundations. We explored the New Testament picture of the Church: a unified church, collaborating together for the glory of Christ and for the furthering of his Kingdom.

This season we have conversations with leaders from Philadelphia to San Francisco, seeing how the ancient roots of the gospel are pushing forth new growth in the church today.

We go after practical and spiritual principles. We also hear how God is showing up every day in the lives of his people.

Thanks to the generosity of the band Poor Bishop Hooper, we’re integrating the music of the Psalms, both in lament and in celebration. www.everypsalm.com/give

We’re continuing to pray for God to reform his church. That the body of Christ would grow deeply interconnected, forming trust-filled relationships capable of handling the tensions of different perspectives. Our prayer is that across the Church we would build one another up, speak the truth in love, and mature more fully into the image of Christ.

The Quiet Reformation is a podcast from Netzer.org with Tim Doering (vision+networking) and Justin Ryan Boyer (producer).
