This is the story of how Rabia and Sana met each other and joined forces to begin their podcast “The Rabia and Sana Show” about reinventing cultural norms.

Their meeting was random but the passion for their purpose to empower, educate and uplift South Asians was not.

They formed an instant bond connecting for hours over chai and their stories with a progressive outlook on life. Their choices and circumstances were completely opposite and at different times, yet the similarities were uncanny. They both succumbed to cultural norms and family traditions —one conforming, while the other escaping. They ended up sacrificing their goals and dreams and lost themselves in the process.

Their exchange was filled with understanding and relatability and they concurred that there must be many people who feel like they did and decided to open up about their stories, lessons, and learnings, for misfits and underrepresented through a podcast.

Welcome to the Rabia & Sana Show. This is our mini introduction (or maybe not so mini) to our podcast. Our podcast is about reinventing cultural norms for the misfits and underrepresented in the South Asian community. We know first-hand that breaking free from the familiar is not easy, especially when it’s you against the [cultural] norms. We also know that fitting into a box you don’t belong in can be painfully suffocating. That’s why we are creating this safe space to have discussions that are inclusive of personal identity, emotional and mental wellness, and happiness.
