Cheeky Tales

The Race to the South Pole

Listen Later

In 1911 two teams set out to be the first to reach the South Pole. With two different approaches, they started on opposite sites of the Ross Ice Shelf, leaving just days apart. While one team would reach the pole and return with the glory, the other would be left heartbroken, and with a dangerous journey home. Join us this week as we discuss the race between Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen to the South Pole.
