George Takei is an American actor, author, and activist. He's known for his role as Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS enterprise in the Star Trek franchise and Galactus in the Superhero Squad Show.
On December 7, 1941 Japan attacked Pear Harbor and for looking like the enemy, Japanese Americans in the United States were then considered enemy combatants or enemy aliens.
As a result, the U.S. government forcibly removed approximately 125,000 people from their homes and relocated them to prison camps around the country. George Takei was four years old when he and his family were forced from their home in Los Angeles to several different internment camps during their incarceration. He shares his personal story of detention and compares the four years he spent imprisoned by the federal government to the current immigration raids.
