Tanner Martty is the owner of Free State Gym, a personal and group fitness center in Eagle. I learned about Tanner from many people who were, by all classic metrics, broken down and destined for medication and low mobility for the rest of their lives. They worked with Tanner and have been given a new lease on life. This is a huge problem that we must address as we, as a country, look at the failing health of our population, and I really enjoyed hearing Tanner’s perspective. Enjoy!

Margaret Carmel is a journalist for Boise Dev and came in to speak about the city of Eagle. Eagle recently finalized a budget that included property tax increases, and it also came to the conclusion of a court case with the Eagle Senior Citizens Inc. Steve Burgos is the director of Boise Public Works and came in to talk about Boise’s program that takes human waste from our homes and turns it into industry inputs. Through large, very specific processes, the public works can extract incredibly clean water as well as agricultural fertilizers that are then used on the farm owned by Boise. Those crops are grown and then sold at market, creating an almost zero net loss from the waste stream that we all literally flush down our toilets. Steve’s explanation of all of this was incredibly fascinating and a testament to human ingenuity and our capacity to stretch resources when needed. Enjoy!

Ben Adams is the District 12 Senator in Idaho and wants to change the Idaho constitution to setup a framework so that Idaho never loses its public lands to private sales. This would require a huge collaboration across the state, but would also preserve Idaho’s greatest natural resource, its land, for generations to come. Enjoy!
