So the Bible is pretty long, most people haven't got time to read the whole thing so here is a summary of it in 20 minutes.  I outline the structure, how to read it, what each book is about and respond to criticisms levelled against it! Warning - I sing quite a lot in this episode!

RE is changing! The Commission on Religious Education (CoRE 2018) means that by law religious education has to to include teaching about non-religious worldviews alongside religions. So the RE Podcast is here to help you out!  In this episode I talk to Director of Understanding Humanism, Luke Donnellan. Together we explore what humanism is, what they believe, misconceptions about humanism and what humanists actually do!

In the last episode when we spoke to Eran Dror he mentioned something called 'Sunday Assembly' in the context of religion for atheists. So I got hold of Stuart Holdsworth from Sunday Assembly to tell us more.  We discuss what Sunday Assembly is, how and why it started and what do expect when you get there. I also got the opportunity to go to a sunday assembly so I have thrown in a few clips of what I expected! This feels like what humans need, and would be a really interesting topic for the classroom. Can you have religion without the doctrine.

Wow! I cannot believe how many things I dip into with Eran Dror!  AI consciousness, Buddhism, sense of self, the future of religion, the ethics of algorithms and how we counter this, and religion for atheists!  We really unpack what it means to be human, what our needs and our weaknesses are and what we need to be our best self, the need for connection.  We mention Sunday assembly and soon I will be interviewing someone from the Sunday Assembly to look more into this - it's Church for atheists!  Watch this space!

Here is a link to Alain De Botton's book that Eran mentioned too!

Now, I don't have any inside knowlege (other than what AQA have released) but I think Ashura is going to come up in the GCSE exam, and might even be the 12-marker... So this chat with Zameer Hussain will give your children so much RICH KNOWLEDGE about this commemoration.  What is it and what is the story behind it?  Is it a festival or a commemoration? How do different Muslims spend this day?Why is it still so important in the 21st century?  This day is a wonderful antedote to toxic masculinity - for young Shia Muslims to grow up watching male adults cry and express emotion, and a very poignant discussion in the context of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
