The Real Get To Da Choppa episodes

  • Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace – Episode 1: Once Upon a Beginning | Fan Commentary

In this episode, I kick off a fan commentary on Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace with Episode 1 – Once Upon a Beginning, diving into the madness, bad acting, terrible editing, and pure genius that makes this cult comedy so beloved.

From Dr Rick Dagless M.D. to the deliberately awful production values, I talk about why Darkplace still works so well and why Episode 1 is the perfect introduction to Marenghi’s twisted world.

Huge thanks as always to Luke Hayes Payne, Damian Sayers, and everyone in the Get To Da Choppa / retro community for the continued support — it genuinely means a lot.

  • Gorgo (1961) – Fan Commentary

This time I’m diving into Gorgo (1961), the classic British giant monster movie that blends heartfelt drama with city-stomping spectacle. Watching this again in stunning quality thanks to the special limited-edition 4K release — an amazing gift from my wife — really highlights the incredible miniature work, effects, and old-school charm that make this film so memorable.

In this fan commentary, I talk about the film’s place in monster movie history, its emotional core, the creature effects, and how Gorgo stands alongside (and apart from) its kaiju cousins from the same era.

As always, this is a fan commentary made purely out of love for the film.

Thanks as always to everyone who listens, supports, comments, and shares — it genuinely means a lot.

  • The Real Ghostbusters – Episode 4: “Slimer, Come Home” | Fan Commentary

This episode puts the spotlight firmly on Slimer as he’s accidentally separated from the Ghostbusters and left to survive on his own in New York City. What starts off funny quickly becomes surprisingly heartfelt, as Slimer realises just how much the team means to him.

In this commentary, I revisit why Slimer, Come Home is such a memorable early episode, highlighting its humour, emotion, and the way it gives Slimer real character beyond comic relief. It’s a nostalgic watch that still hits home all these years later.

As always, thanks for watching, listening, and supporting the channel — it really is appreciated.

In this episode, I dive into Tron: Ares for the very first time.

No nostalgia goggles, no prior attachment — just a fresh watch and honest reactions.

I share my thoughts on the visuals, characters, and how this new chapter fits into the Tron universe, from its neon-soaked style to its bold sci-fi ideas.

As always, a huge thank you to Luke Hayes Payne, Damian Sayers, and everyone in the Get To Da Choppa retro community for the continued support — it’s genuinely appreciated.

In this episode, I continue my journey through the classic 80s sci-fi animated series Ulysses 31 with Episode 4 – Guardian of the Cosmic Winds.

A more atmospheric and mysterious chapter, this episode leans heavily into mythic sci-fi as the crew encounters a powerful cosmic force. I share my thoughts on the story and why this one stands out as the series builds its identity.

  • The Valley of Gwangi (1969) - Fan Commentary

In this episode I take a trip back to Valley of Gwangi (1969), the classic fantasy adventure brought to life by the legendary Ray Harryhausen.

From cowboys and dinosaurs to unforgettable stop-motion creatures, this film is pure old-school cinema magic. I talk about my history with the film, revisit its most iconic moments, and celebrate why Gwangi remains such a beloved cult classic for monster and fantasy fans alike.

  • The Real Ghostbusters – Ep 3: Mrs. Rogers’ Neighborhood - Fan Commentary

This episode I dive into The Real Ghostbusters – Episode 3: Mrs. Rogers’ Neighborhood, an early classic that perfectly captures the spooky, funny, and slightly unhinged tone of the series.

From creepy possessions to pure Saturday-morning chaos, this one shows just how weird (and brilliant) The Real Ghostbusters could get right out of the gate. I break down the episode, the standout moments, and why it still holds up decades later.

  • Pitch Black (2000) – 4K Director’s Cut | Fan Commentary

In this episode, I dive into Pitch Black (2000) with a look at the 4K Director’s Cut, revisiting the film that introduced us to Riddick and kick-started one of sci-fi’s most distinctive cult franchises.

Set on a hostile desert planet plunged into darkness, Pitch Black blends survival horror and sci-fi in a raw, stripped-back way that still holds up remarkably well.

I share my thoughts on the film’s atmosphere, creature design, characters, and how the Director’s Cut and 4K presentation enhance (or change) the experience, especially in the darker, more intense moments.

As always, a huge thank you to Luke Hayes Payne, Damian Sayers, and everyone in the Get To Da Choppa retro community for the continued support — it genuinely means a lot.

  • Ulysses 31 – Episode 3: The Black Sphere | fan Commentary

In this episode, I continue my journey through the classic 80s sci-fi animated series Ulysses 31 with Episode 3 – The Black Sphere.

This time, the crew encounters one of the darker and more mysterious episodes of the series, blending Greek mythology with eerie sci-fi concepts in a way only Ulysses 31 could. I share my thoughts on the story, atmosphere, and why this episode stands out as the series really starts to find its tone.

As always, a huge thank you to Luke Hayes Payne, Damian Sayers, and everyone in the Get To Da Choppa retro community for the continued support — it’s genuinely appreciated.

  • StarChaser: The Legend of Orin - Fan Commentary

In this episode, I revisit the cult 80s animated sci-fi classic StarChaser: The Legend of Orin — a film I’ve seen many times over the years, but not properly watched in nearly 20 years, and now finally revisited in glorious Blu-ray.

This rewatch really took me back, blending old-school fantasy with sci-fi in a very of-its-time way. I talk about how the film holds up today, the animation, the characters, and what it was like returning to it after such a long gap.

Huge thanks as always to Luke Hayes Payne, Damian Sayers, and everyone in the Get To Da Choppa retro community for the continued support — you lot are legends.
