  • Searching For The Best Scalable Investments To Gain Financial Freedom | Dante Andrade
Meet Dante Andrade, a successful real estate investor and operator who has been making waves in the industry since 2011 after becoming frustrated with traditional investments and wanting to create passive income. Starting by managing his own single-family portfolio, he eventually transitioned to owning large multifamily assets and eventually founding Touro Company. In addition to running his own company, Dante acts as a consultant and buyer-broker for several investor groups pursuing multifamily assets in Dallas-Fort Worth and throughout Texas.

We always say how important having a mentor is in this industry, and Dante fills that role for Neander. He is the one who first ignited Neander’s passion for multifamily investments. Dante enlightens us with a fascinating story about his first multifamily acquisition and the importance of having his own mentor who helped shift his mindset. According to Dante, it’s a win-win situation when we all elevate each other.

Meanwhile, Italo shows up just in time as Dante wonders where his cup of coffee is. This week, he uses a French press to brew a special coffee bean that the team found in Fredericksburg, Texas. With the French press, the coffee brews a bit longer and allows more of the oils to come through. While the boys have already tried this Costa Rican bean brewed on the V60, they say the flavors come through much stronger today. Will Dante approve?

    Coffee Bio:

For our longtime friend Dante Andrade, we chose a coffee that Neander found during one of his RV road trips with the family, in the hill country region of Texas.

Dante is passionate about his French Press and so we decided to brew this coffee using that method.

Name: Ranch Road Roasters – Costa Rica La Naciente
    Region: Fredericksburg, Texas
    Type: Arábica
    Notes: Brown Sugar, Mango, Strawberry
    Instagram: @calichecoffee

Score: 9.5! This coffee blew our minds!!! We had tried it previously using thte V60 method, which was already amazing, but this time around, we did it with the French press, with coarser grounds and OMG! This coffee was able to taste even BETTER! The sweet notes of strawberries and Mango were like a punch on our taste buds! If you like a refreshing coffee, look no further!

  • Working Harder Than Everyone Else To Become A Millionaire | Shania Moore
Shania Moore now has more Instagram followers than the population of the town she grew up in - and she built that following in a matter of months! Coming from humble beginnings in Iowa, she found her way into multifamily investing in Dallas, Texas. With the help of a mentor and a shift in mindset, she blew her initial goals out of the water and has now invested passively in 168 units.

Her main goal now is to continue growing her multifamily portfolio and start actively investing, all while helping others achieve an abundant lifestyle through apartment investing. Her IG feed is filled with helpful tips for young adults about how to earn more money in sales, work on their mindset, and invest in syndication.

During coffee time, Shania gets to choose between two different bags, both named “Guatemala.” She must have a nose for coffee because she gave this Austin brew a score of 8 or 9! Meanwhile, The Real Grind Crew gave it a 6.5 because of a misleading label that could affect proper brewing.

    Coffee Bio:
Name: Third Coast Coffee - Guatemala
    Region: Austin-TX
    Type: Arábica
Notes: Marshmallow and chocolate as per the bag, but on the website, the same coffee said notes of Cinnamon, Orange Zest.

    Instagram: @thirdcoastcoffee

Score: Our guest Shania gave it an 8 or 9! It was a really good coffee, but The Real Grind Team will score it a 6.5 because the label was misleading. Not necessarily in a bad way, but this can directly affect your final recipe when purchasing a coffee to make an espresso or a pour-over, for example.

  • Where Is The American Economy Headed? | Paul Peebles
This week on The Real Grind, we have our first guest from the lending side of the industry - Paul Peebles. Paul, the National Underwriter at Old Capital, underwrites and structures transactions handled by the company through an array of sources, including conduits, banks, life companies, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, and private money lenders. His extensive knowledge and strong connections help him handle billions of dollars of lending for multifamily properties each year.

Go ahead and ditch the stereotype - Paul is anything but a stuffy banker. The man has curious anecdotes about how things have evolved in multifamily over the years - from the insane increase in rent prices over the decades to getting Frannie Mae and Freddie Mac comfortable with the syndication model. He also flies airplanes and has a podcast that focuses on the real estate industry. He’s the Deal Maker.

Italo was super excited to find a coffee named after Neander’s home state, but Neander thought it smelled horrible. To make matters worse, Paul grew up as a tea drinker, so Italo had a tough crowd to please. He brought out all the stops and prepared this brew using his favorite AeroPress, which uses pressure to brew the coffee. So, hopefully, this blend is a crowd-pleaser after all!

    Coffee Bio
Name: Sterling Coffee Roasters – Espirito Santo
Region: Espirito Santo, Brazil – Roasted in Seattle
    Type: Arábica
    Notes: Toffee and Marzipan
    Instagram: @sterlingcoffee

Score: We truly appreciated the coffee! Paul asked for more, and Neander took back his bad review from before even trying the coffee, which shows that coffee can only be judged post brewed. LOL! If it doesn’t taste good using one method, try it with a different one, you’d be surprised how many times coffee can surprise you!

On today’s episode we decided to let our young guests try a little bit of one our favorites from Brazil!

This coffee is dried using the “honey”method, also known as the pulped natural, which makes the coffee beans look like a honey comb, giving the coffee a sweeter taste and lightness.

The producer of this coffee is called Pé de Breu, which is in remembrance of a tree, Breu, very popular in Brazil in certain regions.

Name: Pé de Breu – Honey Abelhas
Region: Caparaó – Minas Gerais, Brazil
    Type: Arábica
Notes: Sweet, Brown Sugar, Caramel, Sugar Cane, Pomegranate
    Instagram: @sitiopedebreucafesespeciais

Score: 8.0! We love the lightness of this coffee and how easy it is to drink it either in the morning or in the afternoon. For those who are starting their journey in the specialty coffee world, this is a great choice!

You may be wondering, "what do coffee and real estate investing have to do with each other?" Well, other than being some of our founders’ biggest passions, real estate and coffee both have a lot of…
