He blamed Trump for gas eating $100 a day. Then he said, "That's what I hear." His mother works in government. Her paycheck depends on who gets elected. He still hasn't voted since 2012.
MS NOW came to Cleveland asking why young Black men stopped voting. Shayla Davis, President and CEO of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus Foundation, put the number on it: 603,000 eligible Black Ohioans sat out the 2022 midterms. Kenn Dowell and Dr. Heather E. Burton sit down with her to name the real gap. It isn't access. It's information nobody went looking for.

Two hundred messages in nineteen and a half hours. Four adults overseas, one 17-year-old track star from Streetsboro, Ohio. Then the system told his parents James wasn't the victim of a crime. On paper, it was right: there was no federal law against sextortion.
So Tim and Tamia Woods went to Washington and asked for one. The James T. Woods Act cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously and passed the House. Kenn Dowell and Dr. Heather E. Burton sit down with the Woods for the update every parent needs.

A father is dead, families are still displaced, and fifteen months after the gas explosion at Rainbow Terrace, nobody has given them an answer.
Residents took it to Cleveland City Council: no answers, no accountability, and one mother placed in a house that had just burned. Judge Michael Nelson says "undetermined" is the wrong word for a gas explosion, and lays out where the pressure belongs: on the Detroit-based owner, on the housing authority and HUD, and on a city that let a federally subsidized complex fall through the cracks.
With Kenn Dowell, Dr. Heather E. Burton, Judge Michael Nelson and DJ Unicorn. Recorded live September 29, 2026 on 95.9 FM WOVU.

Most of Ohio's 88 counties elect their sheriff. Cuyahoga doesn't. That's not an accident. It's a 2009 charter change born out of scandal, and seventeen years later the people who live here still can't vote on who holds the badge.
Nine sheriffs in thirteen years. A jail crisis nobody has answered for. And an office with no independence from the county executive who appoints it. Kenn Dowell and Dr. Heather E. Burton follow the paper trail with contributor Judge Michael Nelson: how the deal got made, who it was supposed to protect, and who actually paid for it.
