Rarely in professional sports does a player, coach or even executive get to go out on their own terms. Few people know that as well as Coach Doherty, except for today’s guest.
From 2001-’09, JP Ricciardi was the General Manager of the Toronto Blue Jays. After several uninspired years and questionable personnel decisions, Ricciardi was released from Toronto just two days before the end of the 2009 season. In the time since, JP has stayed close to the game of baseball, working for the NY Mets, ESPN, and the San Francisco Giants where he is a senior advisor.
JP Ricciardi joins host Matt Doherty for a conversation about how to persevere through the end of opportunities, living with regrets, and also maintaining your sense of yourself and your values.

No matter who you are, addiction and substance abuse can be an unfortunately common force in either your own life or the life of someone close to you. Being in the spotlight, or places of intense scrutiny can only worsen these circumstances.
Today’s guest on the The Rebound Podcast is Robbie Shaw, a former North Carolina Tar Heel basketball player who shares something much deeper than having worn the powder blue - a place of recovery after an addiction to alcohol.
Today, Robbie Shaw is a health and wellness coach as well as the host of his own podcast, Champagne Problems. But during and after his playing career in Chapel Hill, alcoholism and substance abuse led Shaw down a very dark path. Since having quit drinking, Shaw now finds work and purpose in helping others work their way through addiction.
Robbie Shaw joins Coach Matt Doherty for a discussion about addiction, alcoholism and substance abuse, and what the costs were to them personally and the toll it took on their own health. Robbie talks about how he overcame his addiction, and how he helps others try to find hope and peace in their darkest days.
