It's been awhile since we could attend conferences, so we made up for lost time. The days were  packed. Lots of demos, interviewing founders and a few parties, we had our fill, so we are ready to say farewell to Vegas.

Rookie mistakes: giving Serge coffee - he turns into a speed walker. Shelley tries to be fancy with her shoes and the fallout is blisters over 80% of her toes. Good thing there was a place that sold Birkenstocks nearby.

• Consider 3.8 million Canadians have a criminal record. Very few are Prison Mike (ref: The Office, Season 3, Episode 9). Is this a hidden talent pool?

• Quiet Quitting its just about setting boundaries with your employer; how dare you???

• Now that we are fully transparent with the pay rate on job postings, Recruiters need to have the tools to explain how the range is decided when we are making the offer. 

• 4 great tips from Tim Sackett on email titles no one can resist opening.

If there was only one interview question you could ask, what would it be? 

 As an industry legend and innovator, Lou has the best stories about recruitment. When he talks about Performance Based Hiring, it seems so logical; just ask intelligent questions.

• For someone with a track record of quitting the same job 4 times and getting kicked out of industry events, Lou’s take on what’s wrong in the interviewing and hiring process is spot on.

• Recruiter Abuse. Some candidates can be down right nasty and the keyboard becomes their weapon of choice. Don't put up with a disgusting response from a candidate, make your HR Manager deal with them.  

• LinkedIn triumphantly proclaims they are helping to solve DEI by alerting recruiters with Diversity Nudge. It only applies to male/female ratio, so…..  the balloon just popped. At least they are trying.

• Post the pay range. Colorado led the way, so let's hear what happened 18 months later when you compare them to a state without pay transparency.

• 7 deadly sins of interviewing. These examples are cringe worthy yet we’ve all been witness to what happens when hiring managers are let loose with no interview guide. 

• Crying on LinkedIn; the ultimate in employer branding.

• Reference checking, do it right or don't do them at all. Next on the horizon is social media checks; time to clean up your ancient twitter account.
