Jesus calls us to a higher standard than the world, for the sake of growth and being in closer relationship with him. True disciples go the extra mile and do more than what’s expected of them. It’s in the second mile that life giving conversation happens; that unity can be built.

A blessed life is one that is in relationship with God. In the sermon on the mount, Jesus clearly explains the heart posture of what it is to be a disciple in close relationship with the Father. He calls us into a life long process of becoming more like him.

Culture has confused joy with happiness. While happiness is contingent on circumstances, joy is found only in the presence of God. It is the content state of hope in Jesus and the evidence of him in your life.

It’s important for us to use the right metrics to determine our growth in God. If we relegate spiritual growth to a series of rules we follow rather than where God wants to take us we will fall short. By living out Jesus’s laws of love, rather than our own laws of religion, by dying to ourselves and allowing God to take us deeper, we will be completely transformed in His timing.

Today Chad answers the question “What does His willingness to endure the cross reveal about God’s love and justice, and how should that shape the way we live and respond to others?”
