THE REGENERATIVE HOUR: A relationship to the planet

Listen Later

In The Regenerative Hour no 7 we talk with Chief Purpose Officer Leigh Barnes from Intrepid Travel – a “global leader in delivering sustainable experience-rich travel” – for a talk about the future of travel business and the current reality of carbon offsetting your flights. We also hear what it involved for Intrepid Travel to become a certified B Corporation, and what a Chief Purpose Officer can do to uphold the company’s commitment to leading with purpose.

Afterwards, we play two excerpts from the 90-minute documentary film ‘The Need to Grow’ which was made available for free screening during the first two weeks of October, followed by the soundtrack from Jem Bendell’s 9-minute film, ‘Grieve Play Love’… about how to “love life more than we fear death.”

The Need To GROW — Official Trailer (2019)

“The Need To GROW delivers an epic story of solutions to our world’s biggest environmental challenges. It will make you laugh, make you cry, and give you hope.”

“With only 60 years of farmable soil left on Earth, “The Need To GROW” by Rob Herring and Ryan Wirick offers an intimate look into the hearts of activists and innovators in the food movement: an eight-year-old girl challenges the ethics of a beloved organisation; a renegade farmer struggles to keep his land as he revolutionises resource efficient agriculture; and an accomplished visionary inventor faces catastrophe in the midst of developing a game-changing technology.

“The United Nations estimates that at the rate we are depleting our farmland, we have fewer than 60 years of soil left on Earth. Can we feed the world without destroying the planet? The answer depends on what we do now!”

“The Need to GROW” delivers alarming evidence on the importance of healthy soil — revealing not only the potential of localized food production working with nature, but our opportunity as individuals to help regenerate our planet’s dying soils and participate in the restoration of the Earth.”→ www.theneedtogrow.com
