I just finished my project with DigitalNomad.com and I’m on the next job hunt.
If this were to happen to me 5 years ago, I would be sweating bullets and maybe even crying myself to sleep at night.
If I lost my job, I would be panicking to take anything that would barely keep me afloat, even if I hated it.
I felt like I was in no position to negotiate salary, no position to look for new opportunities, or no position to have many options to choose from.
But fast forward to now, I’m actually super excited and pumped for the next gig.
Last year, I stumbled on a cool way to apply to jobs that lead me to be able to work from anywhere in the world and travel like a mofo.
I’m blessed that I took the steps to make this my reality and I want to tell you how I did it so you can take this same process to increase your job application response rate to more than DOUBLE.

Yeah, it’s pretty ridiculous to think that there’s a job out there that requires no experience, highly in-demand, pays an average of $45,000 a year, and can be done remotely or abroad.
And yet, it’s my plan B.
I think it’s important to have a contingency plan, especially when you’re traveling and living abroad like I am.
If your plan A is to be part of a future proof industry that no one talks about but is in high-demand and NOT taught in colleges…

It sucks, but finding a virtual assistant (VA) job is getting harder. Let me be specific, any basic data entry VA job is getting harder to find.
Why?
Because just like any industry, there will always be a more affordable option.
Someone else in a developing country with the same technology as you can do that job for cheap. Straight up.
So how do you compete? Just like everybody else... You have to specialize in an in-demand skill.
Unless you don't mind being an expat and living in a new country as an English teacher (which is a great option and I actually encourage it if you want to travel and make money right away).
But if you want to find those legit 'work-from-anywhere' jobs, you need a skill to support it.
In today's episode, Phillip Huynh, owner of Creative Hippo, gives us the no-bullshit truth on how to get hired as a virtual assistant.

Imagine you just landed in Bali, Indonesia and you have a big client project due in 24 hours. You need to find a coworking space that has amazing internet, vegan food a stone's throw away, oh-- and you needed coffee, like, yesterday.
Normally you'd be pulling your hair out at this moment but instead, you pull your phone out and ask 20,000 people the best coworking space near your airport and 30 people respond right away.
Easy.
That's The Digital Nomad Girls Community for you. In this episode of The Remotise Podcast, I chat with Jennifer Lachs about the importance of community, especially as a female digital nomad.

Did you know that copywriters make an average of $71K USD a year?
A remote copywriter makes less than that, about $50K USD a year. That’s really good money if you’re living overseas in Southeast Asia but forget it if you’re trying to live in a major city anywhere else in the world. Or is it?
In today’s episode I have Daniel Vu, an ex-marine turned copywriter who makes $40/hour remotely which is more than 76,000 a month, more than the US national average.
He lives in sunny San Diego, with a quick google search, the median household income to live in SD is $64,000 USD. It’s not like San Francisco where the median is in the $90,000+ USD, but it still doesn’t make it a cheap city.

In this episode, we talk to Wally Wang, a work-from-home online teacher. He’s always wanted to be a teacher but found that it wasn’t easy to land a job in a classroom. He discovered an opportunity to become a teacher in Shanghai, China and his life hasn’t been the same since. We explore Mr. Wang’s world and chat about how he managed to save $14,000 in 7 months working abroad, how easy it is to land a teaching job in Asia, the 2 types of people that would benefit from teaching abroad, and how remote work has given Wally the freedom to become his own boss. There is cussing in this episode, so if you have kiddies at home, I suggest putting in some headphones for this one. This is The Remotise Podcast, episode 010. Enjoy the chat with Wally and me.

When our guest, Robert O’Kruk, first started his digital nomad journey, he ran into a big problem. After securing remote work in his hometown of London, Ontario, Canada, he bought a one-way ticket to Thailand. Then all of a sudden, his clients back home were dropping him one by one and he only left Canada a few months ago.
He learned quickly that this lifestyle is easy to obtain, but hard to keep. He had to figure out a way to make money fast. So while in Bali and on the verge of going broke, he discovered a way to get new clients and recover his digital nomad lifestyle.
He took these lessons and created a free online community and throws an annual mastermind retreat where he teaches aspiring digital nomads how to not only become location independent, but he teaches you how to sustain that lifestyle as well.
Today’s episode is part of a series called In-Demand 101. I’ll talk about current in-demand skills you need to get the remote jobs you want with tips, tricks, and advice along the way.
In today’s episode, I chat with, Seth Hymes, a filmmaker who started his career in digital marketing. Digital marketing is the umbrella term for all things online marketing. It’s everything from ranking a website to the first page of google, google or facebook ads, or social media management. This skill is a mix of tech, creativity, and data analysis.
