MOMENT OF THE YEAR

Paul Manafort Gets It
It was the moment the world realized that it wasn’t just in our heads– the Trump campaign did in fact conspire with a foreign hostile power to influence the 2016 American presidential election… and when Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s indictment came in for Paul Manafort, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager and the chairman of his campaign, it spelled the beginning of the of the beginning of the end?
The Bros discuss impeachment possibilities on the final episode in 2017 for the Bros4America podcast.

The Women’s March
It was the impetus for the Resistance movement and not only a preview of things to come but a firm finger on the pulse of the national feeling toward the incoming Trump Administration. As the year unfolded, the resistance proved it was female and so there was no more fitting occasion to commemorate the moment of the year.

Donald Trump’s Inauguration
Shoulda been her.
Whether you loved it or hated it (spoiler alert: we hated it). Listen to the all new episode of the Bros4America podcast to hear the Bros savage the inauguration speech and compare it to the notorious movie villain Bane from the 2012 Christopher Nolan film “The Dark Knight Rises.”
At least two of the panelists admit to never having watched the Inauguration speech– they simply couldn’t stomach it– but that the white nationalist overtures and deeply divisive tone were clearly a sign of things to come from the Trump Administration. Indeed, the administration accomplished only one real legislative achievement, if you can call it that, in Trump’s tax bill, which was passed right before the holidays in such a hasty fashion that the damage it will do was swept under the rug by Congressional Republicans.
Either way, love it or hate it, the Inauguration set the tone for 2017.

Emily Nash
True to the times. Emily Nash, an amazing young woman and a junior at Lunenburg High School in Lunenburg, Mass., came in first place during her school’s golf tournament in October.
However, according to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, girls can play in the boys’ golf tournament as part of a team, but they aren’t allowed to be entered as individuals.
As a result, Nash was actually denied a trophy and a spot in the boys state championship in favor of the lesser-scoring male competitor.

African American Women
The resistance is female. And in the case of the Democratic Party, which will need to be the coalition that takes down Donald Trump and serve as the last stand against the threat of autocracy, the resistance is black women.
It’s true that the majority of the calls to Congress this year were made by women. That women had a great round of elections, and that women sparked the #MeToo movement that continues to take down power players in the media.
And in Alabama, we saw that Black women voted for Doug Jones by a 98% to 2% margin proving unequivocally that black women are the heart and the base of the Democratic party.
