Scripture reminds us that wisdom without wholehearted devotion drifts toward ruin, and calls us to a singular love for the true King—a kind of passionate love that we read about yesterday in the Song of Solomon—but directed toward Christ instead.

In today’s reading we read one of Solomon’s many psalms. Of all the Psalms that Solomon wrote, only 2 or perhaps 3 were preserved. In this reading, we will hear Psalm 127 by Solomon. Another special collection of lyrics, which may also be by Solomon, is presented at this time, The Song of Solomon. It was also known in Greek as the Song of Songs, suggesting that it may have been regarded as the most beautiful song ever written. Unlike the Proverbs, is has more to do with love than with wisdom, prayer, or praise.
