Join Dr. Sandra Cammarata and Dr. Giovanni Campanile as they interview Dr. Valter Longo, an Italian-American biogerontologist and cell biologist known for his studies on the role of fasting and nutrient response genes on cellular protection aging and diseases as well as for proposing that longevity is regulated by similar genes and mechanisms in many eukaryotes. Professor Longo’s core objectives are: to offer treatment and other health services to patients with serious diseases and to those who seek to halt the onset of such diseases; to educate the public—both adults and youth—about how to live a long and healthy life; to sponsor research to develop innovative and creative treatment strategies that are affordable and accessible to all; and to identify ways to prevent specific diseases.

"The main source of food and nutrition for the baby for the first four to six months should be exclusively breast milk or formula when the mother cannot for whatever reason use breast milk. So when and how to start introducing solid foods to your child? The most important thing is to observe when your child is ready. The academy of pediatrics in the United States has recommended six months as a date to start. The baby has to be able to hold the head steady to avoid choking. They must be able to sit up-right in a chair. They have to start to be curious about the food that is around them. Once the baby is interested, you might know that they are finally ready."
