In the latest episode of The Rest Is...PR, Jacki and Lyle talk through another in the list of types of PR covered in the series - Strategic Communications. The discussion has a bit of a twist, however, as our hosts discuss strategic comms through the prism of a current affairs news story. Namely, the ongoing demonstrations organised by environmental protest organisation - Just Stop Oil. Using this example, Jacki and Lyle define what strategic communications means in the context of PR, how it is important to have a clear message and a call to action whenever you are engaging in this type of communication, and how despite their cause being extremely worthwhile and pressing, Just Stop Oil have demonstrated some shortcomings in terms of their messaging and overall strategy that may have caused more harm than good to their protests.
