About The Return of the Soldier
From the publisher's feed
The Return of the Soldier by Rebecca West tells the story of Chris Baldry, a British officer who returns home from World War I suffering from shell shock and amnesia. He has forgotten the last 15…
years, including his marriage to Kitty, and instead remembers only Margaret, his first love. The novel explores themes of love, memory, and the psychological impact of war, contrasting the emotional worlds of the three women connected to Chris. As the story unfolds, difficult choices are made about truth and healing, culminating in a bittersweet ending that highlights personal sacrifice and the tragedy of lost innocence. Summary by lina
