(Like my episodes could be shorter) I found myself in an EV discussion leaving church yesterday. I was surprised and excited…and almost broke into song.

Here’s the story and it fits into that small-town America narrative because it is that small-town narrative.

I grabbed a couple of stories related to recent episodes, both are related to Tesla. “Can Autopilot out perform an idiot?” and protest (but play nice).

Last weekend, a Tesla 3 , using Autopilot, struck a Connecticut State Trooper car and a disabled car in a travel lane on I-95. Accidents make the news. Avoided accidents don’t. Is auto-driving tech good or bad with all of it’s imperfections?

Toyota is working on a car that will “run forever”. Is on-board solar charging a viable option?

I had to check the oil in my 2005 Mini Cooper. I look forward to the day an EV takes that away.

GM and Toyota, both, seem to be telling two different stories.

An email from a friend prompted me to look at the usage on our system stations – 3 Level 2 ChargePoint stations and 6 Tesla Superchargers. The results surprised me.

A listener asked me my opinion on the Hyundai Ioniq. I’ve never considered it, so I began some cursory research. It seems like a fine car and they offer three platforms; hybrid, PHEV and BEV. I was more than happy to look at the options.

Bottom line: this car doesn’t fit my needs, but if it did, it looks like a solid option. Let me know your thoughts.

Is an EV a good choice for you? I can’t answer that for you- only you. Buying an EV isn’t any different than buying a traditional car if you ask the right questions. I can offer some things to ask when making your decision.
