Show Summary:
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump abruptly ended a planned meeting with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi regarding new infrastructure legislation. Just prior to the meeting, prominent Democrats accused Trump of covering up collusion between his 2016 campaign team and Russian officials. Zeoli makes a major announcement—he has decided to totally give up coffee! It’s only day one and he is already struggling…Despite bi-partisan support for upgrading the country’s infrastructure, Democrats continue to waste time investigating Trump. The Left’s latest silver bullet is an invasive review of the president’s tax returns. Daniel Turner, Executive Director of Power the Future, joins the show to discuss what Trump must do to assure he wins blue-collar voters in 2020. According to Turner, an estimated 83,000 coal jobs were lost during the Obama Administration’s eight-year-run—as a result, former Vice President Joe Biden may have trouble convincing coal miners he is willing to fight for them. An environmental group claims that most sunscreens don’t work well and contain harmful chemicals—Zeoli hypothesizes that this could trigger a societal downfall. Rich examines the Obama Administration’s abusive practice of improperly applying for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants during the lead-up to the 2016 presidential campaign. More and more evidence continues to surface suggesting that the FBI and Department of Justice knowingly provided unreliable intelligence to obtain FISA warrants which were then used to surveil Trump campaign officials. Yesterday, New York passed a bill that would permit the release of Trump’s tax returns—Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to sign the bill into law. Despite Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer claiming that Democrats want an infrastructure bill, Zeoli believes the party has no real interest in giving the president a legislative win prior to the 2020 election. Rep. Maxine Waters and Chris Matthews blame Trump for potholes and broken tire-rims. Senator Bernie Sanders theorizes that Trump may actually want to be impeached—referring to the president as a “political animal.” Last night, ABC aired live-remakes of The Jeffersons and All in the Family...it didn’t go well. MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski shamelessly plugs her book several times in a 30-second clip—Zeoli would never do that with his own book, The 7 Principles of Public Speaking…CNN’s Chris Cuomo struggles with basic-math while talking to himself during a particularly torturous segment of his program. Caller Rob wins tickets during the show—but he has no idea what the tickets are for…Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims growing cauliflower in community gardens is a remnant of colonialism. Rep. Jim Jordan fights for privacy rights—government usage of facial recognition software risks undermining individual privacy. Jordan tweeted, “when government surveillance attacks civil liberties, Congress must step in and defend Americans.” And Chuck Schumer reads too far into Donald Trump’s decision to hold an infrastructure meeting in a room with closed curtains.
