(00:00 – 28:27) – JMV opens the broadcast discussing the fight between Michael Pittman Jr. and Rodney McCloud. Is a fight something to worry about or is it just some pre-season pressure getting to the players. Yannick Ngakoue had a good first training camp in full pads. JMV goes into whether or not there is any one thing that everyone can agree on in sports. Then JMV honors one of the all-time greats in sports commentary, Vin Scully. Scully spent 67 seasons as a Major League Baseball commentator for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
(28:28 – 39:20) – JMV continues honoring Vin Scully to start the second segment. Then a caller reflects on Vin Scully memories and if the speeding up of baseball will take away from storytelling in the sport. JMV predicts that the game of baseball is only going to continue to get sped up. Another caller comes in to share more Vin Scully memories and discuss great commentators from the great state of Indiana. The Dodgers were apparently formerly the “Bridegrooms.”
(39:21 – 46:50) – First hour closes out with a call for less divisive content and a call for JMV to be able to curse more. JMV briefly touches on the rumors that OBJ may have been spotted in the Indianapolis Airport today. JMV breaks the news that the NFL will be appealing the Deshaun Watson decision today.
(46:51 – 1:20:45) – Drew Storen, an Indianapolis native and former MLB Pitcher for the Nationals, Blue Jays, Mariners, and Reds, joins the show to discuss the MLB trade deadline, Vin Scully’s passing, and his field of dreams spirit drink titled “Field of Dreams.” JMV asks how Storen got into the liquor business and if any former teammates wanted to join him in this business endeavor. Storen shares baseball stories from his father and also a story of when he asked Vin Scully to sign a microphone. Voice of the Colts Matt Taylor ALSO joins this segment and briefly talks about the “Field of Dreams” game coming up and the trade deadline fiasco. Taylor then digs in to the skirmish that occurred at the Colts Training Camp today. JMV then asks how Taylor views Ngakoue’s performance today and if it reflect more on Ngakoue’s excellence or Matt Pryor’s lack of experience. Taylor and JMV speak to how great the attendance at Colt’s training camp has been and how it will translate to regular season excitement.
(1:20:46 – 1:24:55) – Segment two of hour two kicks off with things that were invented in the 1950’s. A comparison of things that were state of the art in the 50’s and still state of the art today.
(1:24:56 – 1:29:58) – JMV’s defense of Roadhouse continues. Apparently Connor McGregor will be in the film. He believes that more people should be on board with the remake.
(1:29:59 – 2:06:14) – Kevin Bowen from The Fan’s joins the program to talk Colts training camp as he was on the scene today for their first full practice in pads. A quick detour involving the Roadhouse and Pam & Tommy shows comes up. Bowen then goes into the fight that broke out at training camp. He states it was a surprise that it took until the 5th practice for Pittman to start something with someone given his history with the Patriots. Bowen defends Matt Pryor’s falling short against a skilled player like Ngakoue. Bowen then states that he thinks this is the most depth the AFC has had in the NFL for a long time.
(2:06:15 – 2:14:30) – JMV breaks down both the AFC and NFC in football and which teams you could cross off in each conference.
(2:14:31 – 2:16:42) – A quick wrap up pointing out that Vin Scully called games for players born between the years of 1916 and 1996, just 20 years short of a century worth of players. Plus a reminder to join JMV when he is live tomorrow from Twin Peaks!
