Sent: Suffering – Living a Christian life isn’t all happy. There are lots of disappointing situations in the lives of those who follow Jesus. But God promises to be with us and Jesus is on the throne.

The two stories in this passage are connected in two ways. Both involve people seeking God and daughters.

The Messiah: Change – God doesn’t change, we can count on him. But many things in this world will. We cannot become who God wants us to be if we remain what we are.

The Messiah: the Paralytic – The biggest miracle in this story isn’t that the man was physically healed, but that he was forgiven. Jesus has the authority to forgive. Don’t let sin paralyze you.

The Messiah: Salt & Light – Julie Weimann encourages people to be salt and light to our families, our church and our community.

The Messiah: Fear/Trust – Fear is often the biggest barrier from keeping us from a life of faith – trusting and following God. Where is God calling you to fear not?

The Messiah – Mistreated: When you are mistreated, remember you are not alone. Jesus will stand with you, if you let him.
