A man wants to bury his father before following Jesus, and Jesus answers, "Let the dead bury their own dead." Was Jesus being heartless?

In Part 2 of our Hard Sayings of Jesus series, Dennis and Ashleigh walk through Luke 9:57–62. They look at the three main ways scholars read "let me first bury my father" and what Jesus meant by "the dead." Then they ask what it really means to be a disciple: getting on God's page instead of asking Him to get on yours.

From there it gets personal. How do you know if God is really speaking to you? When should you ask for confirmation, and when are you just stalling? What about people who see a "sign" in every billboard? Dennis shares how God called him at 22 to move to Berkeley and plant a church, and what happened the time he didn't follow through. They also talk about why prophetic timing is so often misunderstood, using the 2020 election prophecies as an example, and why a stumble while following God isn't failure.
