Let's make this SUPER easy! What is your maid of honor in charge of?

Traditionally,  the maid of honor is in charge of the bachelorette party, bridal shower, and making a speech, right? 

Yes, but weddings are a lot more complex these days, aren't they? Depending on the couple, a wedding could be a quick elopement to the local courthouse, a week in Tuscany, or anything in-between.

THIS is why perhaps the most important thing you will do for your wedding is sit down with your MOH (maid of honor) and have a super frank conversation about your expectations. That conversation can look like this...

"You are the most important friend in my life. I absolutely adore you and our friendship is more Important to me than anything. That being said, I envision (describe your vision for your bachelorette) and (describe your vision for your bridal shower). What parts of that are you able to help with?"

Be realistic about your expectations for bachelorette expenses, bridal shower responsibilities, how much your MOH will help with wedding duties, and anything else you can think of!

Start by listening to this episode and sending it to your MOH - then book a date (we always recommend brunch because, duh) and have a heart-to-heart about your dreams for this beautiful season of life.

But they are NOT the same thing.

It is so important that you understand the difference between a Wedding Planner and a Wedding Coordinator before you book because:
- It will help you decide how much support you'd like on your wedding day and which service is best for you
- It will give you and your wedding pro clear expectations for wedding planning, management, and coordination
- It will give you peace of mind about the role of your support system (aka your planner or coordinator!) and the ways you can anticipate they will show up for you.

Date is picked and you’re SO excited to set up the website and send invites. STOP RIGHT NOW.

Do not (we repeat DO NOT) send out a ceremony time until you listen to this episode.

Honestly, we are barely scratching the surface on this one, y’all. At the VERY least, consider the following before setting your ceremony time.

1. Will your ceremony be inside or outside? What time of year is it? Nothing is worse than a 4PM wedding outside in August. Nothing. However, 4PM outside in October might be perfect.
2. What time is sunset? Do you want sunset photos? You definitely don’t want to run out of light before you’ve gotten the perfect pictures (this is your ONLY chance, get those shots, boo)
3. How many hours is your photographer hired for? How much time does your photographer need for photos? Are you doing a first look? How long will it take you to get ready? Are you sure? How long does the hair and makeup team need? (ASK THEM!)

Above all, DO NOT send out invitations until you’ve talked to your planner/coordinator and your photographer about the best time to have your ceremony.

However, there are several things to consider, when hiring a live band for your wedding reception.

Who will play music for the ceremony? Will there be a microphone set up for the ceremony? Who will play music for a cocktail hour? Will there be an emcee during the reception? When will the band eat dinner? What will play during band breaks?
