With more than 35 years of leadership and ministry experience, Pastor Carpenter has faithfully served in churches, non-profit organizations, and ministries across the United States and abroad. Together with her husband, Reverend Timothy W. Carpenter, she co-founded God’s Way Ministries International in Columbus, Ohio.  

Esther by Design was founded as a transformative platform by Lady Denise to inspire women of all ages to embrace their true identity and walk confidently toward their God-given destiny. Through this ministry, Pastor Denise leads annual retreats, conferences, and symposiums, as well as monthly classes, creating spaces for growth, empowerment, and spiritual renewal.

Her dedication has not gone unnoticed. In 2024, Pastor Carpenter was honored with The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joseph R. Biden, recognizing her lifelong commitment to building a stronger nation through volunteer service.

Beyond her ministry, Pastor Carpenter has shared 51 years of marriage with Reverend Timothy Carpenter. They are the proud parents of two adult daughters and the joyful grandparents of six beautiful grandchildren.

Lady C has a powerful conversation with Chaplain Audrey McClain, who passionately supports incarcerated individuals, their children and families. Serving as a Chaplain, she strives to facilitate their reintegration into society. As a chaplain she is focused on fostering marginalized individuals' spiritual growth.

Originating from Macon, Georgia, she achieved a Master of Divinity from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio and is presently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at United Theological Seminary.

Chaplain McClain is an influential mentor and devoted volunteer within her community.  As a devoted mother of two daughters and a son, she shares her life with her supportive husband, Clarence McClain.  Lastly, Chaplain McClain is affiliated with the Wesley Church of Hope United Methodist Church, where she serves under the guidance of Pastor Richard A. Dunbar.

Elder Dedra Smith joins Lady C for a powerful conversation on the burdens of black women with the mental health syndrome known as the Superwoman Schema!

Elder Dedra Smith; her goal is to assist church leadership to be healthier mentally and spiritually by using a holistic approach through teaching and coaching. She is a Licensed Social Worker and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor and has been practicing in the state of Ohio for over 25 years. 

Currently, she is a Doctoral student at Northcentral University, with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her doctoral studies focus on Creating Trauma-Informed Ministries in the African American Church through support and education to Pastors and Church Leadership.  Elder Smith is the owner of D.L. Smith Consultants LLC.

Elder Smith faithfully serves at Healing and Deliverance Holy Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop Romel T. Johnson. There she teaches Minister in Training Classes and serves as the Youth Pastor.
