The apostle John concludes his letter to the churches by showing them and us how to love God. He's already told us that God is love and as children of his we ought to love one another, but now he turns it all around and asks, "How do we love God?" The answer might surprise Christians today!

At this point in John's letter he wants to encourage the church by reminding them about their position in the family of God. They're his children and heirs with his Son, Jesus Christ. He also wants to remind them that their practice, how they live their lives and in the power of the Holy Spirit is continually move from sinner to Saint in Christ!
