This week on The Roe Show I sit down for a second time with Julian and Annalisa Pavone to discuss the music industry, but this time from a different perspective. They are joined by award winning music producer, Norman 'Ace' West to talk about their first single, 'Secret Love,' that was co-produced by Julian. Annalisa does both lead and back-up vocals while Julian drums and raps. It's an R&B style of song and is the first single in what will become and exciting career for them both.
"The Pavone siblings have so much to offer, as Annalisa exercises the strength that only a seasoned vocalist would be able to execute," says Ace. "Much like her prodigy brother, who is a genius in the studio, Annalisa adapted to the creative process instantly."
Ace has worked with some of the world's greatest musical legends, including Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Aliyah, and currently Annalisa Pavone. As Ace said it best, "We are putting the aces in their places," about Detroit stars he has partnered with to create incredible music and lasting legacies – whose names all coincidentally start with the letter A.
"I believe this is a good indication for what Annalisa's success will look like in the years to come." Recorded at the PAC-3 Recording Studio, located in Dearborn, Michigan, "Secret Love" is jam packed with well-known names in the music business. The song was engineered and mastered by Carl B, whose portfolio of work includes collaborations with Producer R.J. Rice from Barak Entertainment, and artists Michael Jackson, Eazy E, Ginuwine, Timabaland, Shaq, and Ice Cube. The song also features talented musicians Peter Carbone on lead guitar and Kenny Hasenauer on bass.
Not only was the track itself touched by talented artists, but so was the cover art and music video. The "Secret Love" cover art was created by renowned artist Tony Roko, who won the title as Detroit's Best Fine Artist for five consecutive years, according to HOUR magazine. Roko has painted commissions for Jay Leno, Lady GaGa, and many museums.
This is a great interview for music lovers or anyone in the industry.

This week on The Roe Show, I sit down with Seneca Schwartz, a young #GirlFlipper who does a mix between Freestyle Trampoline and Parkour. She talks to me about the role of girls in Freestyle sports. Currently not many women take up these more extreme sports and even though brands and industry leaders would like to see more Girl Flippers, the numbers remain low. The same was true for other freestyle sports such as snowboarding or skateboarding back in the 70’s so it may just be a matter of time until before women feel comfortable in this new space. Seneca talks to me about gender equality and how gym owners can promote equal flipping for men and women. She also talks to me about her nervousness in an all-boys program, which is still the norm today. She has a few great thoughts on how gyms can speed up that process and make the entry for women easier.
Seneca also made a film that was featured on The Film Girl Festival called LIKE A GIRL; a short film on girl empowerment through Parkour and Free running. "LIKE A GIRL is not a representation of who I am. It is the representation of the change we believe we can make...The Future of Female Movement. She has also appeared on a Ted Talks (Tedx Youth @Tokyo) to discuss this strange movement.

This week on The Roe Show, I sit down with Peter Landerholm, freestyle trampoline athlete and 'gtramper' as the community calls themselves. This "Sport Born on Instagram" as coined by the LA Times, has rapidly grown into a global phenomenon and Peter has been a the heart of it for many years, despite his young age. We discuss his life altering injury a year ago and how it changed his outlook on life when he broke his neck during a training session. I recommend that all parents of kids who flip or do gtramp watch this episode with their child, as it will give you an honest insight into this sport; including the dangers and what you can do to try and prevent them. This episode will hopefully make young flippers think twice about "going for it" when attempting new tricks they have not been properly trained to do.
Peter Landerholm is 17 years old and is from Seattle Washington. In his own words, here is his story: "Ever since I was a kid I loved being air born and upside down so finding gtramp was the perfect match for my love of acrobatics. My goals for the future are to keep pushing my limits and being able to flip for a long time in my future. When I broke my neck in 2 places I definitely thought my flipping career was over but as I recovered and got healthier my passion never left me. So now I’m just gonna see where this sport takes me and I look forward for the future."
Thank you Peter for sharing your story and giving us all your wonderful insights into this sport.

This week on The Roe Show, I sit down with Paul Kaye, a leading sports therapist and CEO at Rebound Therapy International Ltd. We talk about the many benefits of using trampolines for therapy across all spectrum of special needs and he explains the Rebound Therapy program along with some fun stories and what he has learned working with both young children and adults alike.
The phrase 'Rebound Therapy’ was coined by the founder, Eddy Anderson in 1969 to describe the use of trampolines in providing opportunities for movement, therapeutic exercise and recreation for people across the whole spectrum of special needs. The program uses trampolines to provide therapeutic exercises to people with a wide variety of disabilities and additional needs. The therapy involves using the moving bed of the trampoline to promote movement in the participant. By carrying out basic through to highly technical physiotherapy techniques on the trampoline, the therapy can provide many therapeutic and physiological benefits:
Facilitate and promote movement and balance, Improve fitness, Increase or decrease muscle tone, Help relax the participant, Improve sensory integration, Improve concentration and even improve communication skills.

This week on The Roe Show, I sit down with Professor Ronald A. Smith, a leading sports historian. We talk the NCAA and how it came to be and the not so well known strategies behind used to create it. We also learn from Prof. Smith about the controversial NCAA uprising of the athletes who began to sue because they felt they were technically 'working' as athletes, yet not getting paid. He explains how they were not compensated if they were hurt, even though through their scholarships they were under contract to 'work' for the University.
Ron is a professor emeritus of sports history at Penn State University and the author of several books, including Sports and Freedom: The Rise of Big-Time College Athletics and Play-by-Play: Radio, Television, and Big-Time College Sport. The former is an examination of the controversy over paying men and women college athletes, which persuasively argues that, for all the NCAA’s insistence on amateurism today, college sports have never been amateur. We discuss many of the strategies that the NCAA has used and why and it's controversial history. Ron also talks about how the NCAA has come under scrutiny for the way they treat their athletes and a few of the ways they are changing for the better. I thank him for this insightful interview and his candid comments and discussions.

This week on The Roe Show, I sit down with Mickey Wilson, veteran Slackline expert and extreme athlete. We discuss the sport and how to learn it, the equipment used and how to compete. He has some alarming stories and some great insights as well. Towards the end we talk about the future of this niche sport and compare it to some of the more classical sports. We have a look into the pros and cons of each sport, traditional versus freestyle, so if you're looking to learn about another great freestyle sport, this is the podcast for you.
I first met Mickey a few years ago when we were performing for a client in the middle east and he even tried to teach me to slackline! Mickey has competed at numerous slackline competitions since 2011 and is currently ranked 11th in world in tricklining by the World Slackline Federation. He landed the first ever double backflip dismount, and was the first to land a backflip to chest bounce in competition. He was also the second person to land a 'Luke Skywalker' on a highline. His longest slackline send stands at 500 feet (152 m) and his longest highline send is 230 feet (70 m on sight!).
Mickey is also an avid skier, whitewater kayaker and climber. He has his skydiving "A" license and he plans to work toward base jumping and eventually base jumping from highlines! Mickey was also called a hero when he rescued a man caught hanging from his neck by his backpack in a ski lift accident in 2017. The man almost certainly would have died were it not for the heroics of Mickey, who appeared on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show,' in 2017 to talk about the daring rescue.
