This week on the ‘OPE: Three Years Later’ series, Scott is joined by three incredible individuals who have been working the safe passage and resettlement efforts from the collapse of Afghanistan - Jazz Cannon, Ben Owen, and Jess Owen. Jazz escaped Afghanistan with her family in the 90’s and now works with Legend Group to help evacuate American citizens and Afghan Allies left behind. Ben and Jess Owen are the CEO and Executive Director of their non-profit, Flanders Fields, where they help veterans and give them a new purpose in life. Join Scott, Jazz, Ben, and Jess to learn more about what they're doing to continue to #HonorThePromise and #FinishTheMission.

CONTEXT ON THIS SERIES

In August of 2021, the United States Government officially withdrew from Afghanistan leaving hundreds of thousands of at-risk Afghans vulnerable to Taliban brutality. Immediately, the impact of this moral injury was apparent on out Afghan allies and veteran populations with many of them left behind to deal with the aftermath that no one was coming.

Scott and a team of combat veterans began to leverage their network of relationships to provide safe passage and ultimately relocation of hundreds of at-risk Afghans. Scott now has the opportunity to share the story of those Afghan Allies who made it out and of those who are still fighting their way to safety today, alongside many of the extraordinary men and women who made this possible. In this podcast series, Scott sits down with some of the members of Pineapple Express to share their stories and reflect on where we are one year later after the collapse of Afghanistan.

As we approach the three-year anniversary of the collapse of Afghanistan, it’s important to offer reflections on what happened last year, what it means for us today and for the future. Our veteran population and Afghan Allies, those brought to safety and those still at-risk, have been profoundly impacted from the events of August 2021 and many will grapple with the imposed trauma for years to come. Join Scott on this special look at Operation Pineapple Express Three-Years Later as he offers reflections on where we have been, where we are, his hopes for the legacy of Operation Pineapple Express and what’s being done to continue to #HonorThePromise and #FinishTheMission.

As we move through the 3 - year anniversary of the U.S. withdrawal in Afghanistan, abandonment of our Afghan Allies, and re-emergence of the Afghan Terror State we must double down on our efforts to examine where we’ve been, where we are, and where we are going as a nation.

Nobody is coming to save us. If the institutions we count on won’t step up and share these stories and lessons, the GWOT (Global War On Terror) Generation will continue do so.

If you don’t like where things have gone in relation to Afghanistan, national security, or veterans’ issues, you’ll definitely want to check this and all the “It Matters” episodes out.

A lot of GWOT Generation folks are hurting at this three-year annivesary.

Why? Why does it matter so much three years later?

This episode will help answer these critical questions. It’s up to us to make sure help people understand why Afghanistan matters so much.

I’ll see you on the rooftop.

On the heels of the failed assassination of former President Trump, our country, our communities, our people have been thrust into the Churn of renewed political violence. Caustic commentary on social media, and polarized positions have only heightened the emotional temperature into a trance-state that puts us at a very dangerous precipice of “Shadow Tribalism.”

This fear-based trance state is primal and contagious…and without us realizing it, can take us right into darkness.

How do we navigate through the noise, distrust, fear, and CHURN to better days?

Nobody else is coming. We need leaders without titles or egos right now. This episode breaks down as it pertains to you and me leading the communities serve and the people we love.

I’ll see you on the Rooftop!

Are we about to repeat the mistakes of the past? Is there another 9/11 brewing? If so, is our government contributing to this imminent attack? What can we do about it? You and Me?

More than you think.

Haven't we been here before? We have.

Our politicians might be done with the Taliban, al Qaida, and ISIS-K…but they are not done with us. They have followed us home.

In fact, the children of our warriors and the children of our enemies are ramping up for the next iteration of this long-term struggle.

It’s the rise of the GWOT babies.

The GWOT generation isn’t done yet! Building on the momentum that Shawn Ryan has created with the Ahmad Massoud interview, this episode goes deeper and answers the questions of WHAT we can do about what’s happening with violent extremism.

This MUST become an election year issue.

Check this episode out and keep making your voice heard!

Podcaster Mike Baker recently analyzed the pros and cons of the Biden Administration creating a partnership with the Taliban in Afghanistan to counter the growing ISIS-K Threat. It seems the Administration is banking on the mutual disdain the Taliban and the USG have for ISIS-K. But, what if that isn’t exactly what’s going on? What if below the waterline, the Taliban and ISIS-K are two sides of the same coin?

As Shawn Ryan’s interview with National Resistance Front of Afghanistan Ahmad Massoud points out, that could very likely be the case. Nobody is coming. We might as well break this down.

I’ll see you on the Rooftop.
