In this episode, Shane and Destynie discuss the difficult postpartum experience after their first live birth (second child). Destynie developed crippling postpartum depression and a surprise autoimmune diagnosis. On top of all of that, their daughter had health concerns of her own which nearly destroyed their relationship. In this final episode of season 2, they discuss their journey to reconciliation as a family which culminated in a bold decision to have a pregnancy and birth completely free of medical intervention.

We discuss the first trimester miscarriage of our first child followed by a surprise pregnancy just two months later. We discuss our path to our daughter’s birth and what went wrong in the last few hours of her birth. We discuss the many lessons learned along the way as we prepared for our son’s birth (Baby #3) and his birth story which will be discussed in Part 2 (next week).
