Shocker men's basketball is home on Thursday to face former MVC rival Northern Iowa. It's a fitting night to recognize former Shocker coach Mark Turgeon for his induction into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. The Shocker women meet Missouri State (6 p.m. Wednesday) and St. Thomas (2 p.m. Saturday) at Koch Arena. On Sunday, Shocker volleyball is home for a 1 p.m. match against UTSA, the final regular-season appearance for four seniors. Wichita State basketball needed a big boost in 2000 when 35-year-old Mark Turgeon arrived at Levitt Arena. His seven seasons rebuilt the program, highlighted by a Sweet 16 trip in 2006, and helped athletic director Jim Schaus rejuvenate the fan-base and an entire athletic department.
