Los Angeles lawyer Gloria Allred held a news conference this past Monday and has filed a discrimination lawsuit on behalf of a transgender man because he was allegedly denied a haircut at a Long Beach, California barbershop. The barbershop describes itself as a "men's sanctuary."

Hector MacMillan, the Mayor of Trent Hills, Ontario, has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and without immediate high tech surgery to excise the tumour he will die and quickly. In the U.S. the cancer is available in a matter of days, but OHIP won't pay for the Mayor's out of province surgery. Joe Warmington wrote in the Toronto Sun, that Mayor MacMillan tweeted he has been "essentially murdered by a corrupt, rigged political system." and "out of country funding program will pay to remove my penis, but not my cancer tumour."  The Ontario Health Minister has responded to the Mayor by talking about "giving opportunities to individuals like yourself, particularly life-saving opportunities" re funding out-of-province health care" but only by "decisions based on best practices and science and evidence."

A University of Virginia lacrosse player sentenced to 23 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend. Both had been binge drinking and the lacrosse playing student says he is innocent. And odd things happened prior to George Huguely's murder trial.   

Binge drinking at universities has been in the news since Brock Turner made international headlines when the Stanford University student was stopped in the act of raping an unconscious woman said to have been at a party where binge drinking was happening. This week, Stanford University banned undergrads from drinking any spirits on campus and grad students from drinking hard liquor unless they're mixed at campus parties. Guest: Mathew D.
