In this week's podcast episode we "go there" about censorship, free speech, government overreach, and the things we're apparently not supposed to talk about, including;- Trump's failed MOU (and dwindling oil stocks)- Karl Stefanovic being axed from Channel 9- QLD Police refusing to post on X anymore- Bird Flu (and what it's got to do with Australian Pork)- How our Government just voted against an inquiry into gain of function researchLast week we stirred up a bit of a hornet's nest (at least in the youtube comments) for daring to be intrigued by 'the orange party' (can we say their name in out loud? 😉) and why they appear to be gaining in popularity, so this week we ask why that was, and why it seems like the ability for civil discourse has left the building.LINKS & RESOURCES:Sam Altman Documentary: You should, unfortunately, be worried about Sam Altmanhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eYTkvZqbnQ Can you believe this website exists?!https://rentahuman.ai/Oil Price vs Strait of Hormuz traffic:https://x.com/philippilk/status/2069818620905914858?s=20Strategic Oil Reserves (salt caverns):https://x.com/WeTheBrandon/status/2069042586866651168?s=20QLD Police X Announcement:https://x.com/QldPolice/status/2067099820402336094?s=20Billionaires facing political parties:https://x.com/MatttDavey/status/2069232988135788554?s=20
This week we take a look at what this 'Fire the Liar' campaign from One Nation really means in our current dysfunctional political landscape. We also try to make sense of Trump's so-called M.O.U with Iran. And we discover another way the Australian Government isn't doing it's job when it comes to food safety - specifically potatoes that don't sprout?!?!

We're bloody fed up. It's bad enough that our government are driving our economy into the ground (either through gross incompetence, or intentionally for who-knows-why), but when that same elected government flip-flops on it's election promises and screws the average Australian down even further into financial despair, we have to ask, when will Australians say "Enough is Enough"?
In this episode we're finally talking about 'the budget' and how the decisions to fundamentally change how Australians invest in their own futures are not only NOT going to make a meaningful difference to the economy - they're going to ruin the families, farms and futures of everyday Australians.

Petrol's up, the grocery bill's climbing, the mortgage repayments have crept higher, and yet the news keeps telling us everything's under control. This episode is about living in that disconnect, the gap between what we're told is happening and what we actually feel every time we go into town. Are we crazy, or are we just frogs in slowly heating water, quietly getting used to the pressure? We talk through the cost of living crunch here in Australia, what a shift into El Nino could mean for rainfall and food production on our off grid homestead, the looming fuel price changes, and why we've started buying extra at every shop. Not panic buying, not prepping for the apocalypse, just taking more responsibility before the system gets squeezed. This isn't doom and gloom. It's an honest, practical conversation about staying informed without drowning in it, knowing when you're being marketed to, and the simple grounding question we keep coming back to: what's the truth, and what's the lie?Check out the BLUETTI Elite 300 Here: https://bit.ly/RSH_Elite300CONNECT WITH US Rustic Spirits Email List:https://bit.ly/rustic_spirits_email_list Check out our Patreon and join the Rustic Spirits Community:https://patreon.com/c/rusticspiritsco
So continuing on in the theme of the world is going crazy right now, in this episode we dive into the latest virus outbreak (is it pandemic-able?), the new Budget announcements, what's really going on with the oil supply lines and why a little by-election upset may just be the hope signal that many Australians have been watching for. In this week's episode of The Rustic Spirits Podcast we talk about the unusual coincidence of world-wide major events and how if it were just one thing - we (and our governments) may be able to weather the storm, but the costs keep rising, the tensions keep escalating and the possible scenarios don't leave us with a lot of confidence in our government(s) to see us through. So we're making sure we're doing what we can, with what we have - NOW - to be ready for anything.
If you've been paying close attention to the news lately it feels eerily like the eye of the storm this last week or so. Perhaps we've just built up a "crisis media tolerance" to the point now where unless there's bombs dropping or robots marching into factories to steal human jobs, we're not affected. But that's actually highlighted something really important to us here on our Homestead - we didn't start to develop a resilience and self-sufficiency mindset ad way of life in response to all that drama - we were doing it anyway because it just makes good sense. And so this week - that's exactly what we're doing.Roman Yampolskiy on Triggernomotry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3I60uZEqXr0
We've definitely all been here before - when the news cycle feels like a constant punch in the head. So while the situation in Iran and the impending worsening fuel and food crisis feels like it's taken a back-seat, we take a breather. Sometimes it's important to stay informed, keep up to date, formulate your opinions and responses - but then shut the screen off, go outside and make sure you're putting first things first. In this episode we cover a lot of ground. We talk honestly about audience fatigue - ours included - and why we've been covering geopolitical topics on a homesteading channel. We get into the $20 million government fuel economy ad campaign and why a farmer on X said it better in a single post than any bureaucrat has managed in months. We talk about the Ben Roberts-Smith case, subjudice law, and why we won't be commenting on it - and why mainstream media probably should have taken the same approach. We discuss the under-16 social media ban, the $82 million spent on it, and the 70% of kids who still have their accounts anyway. We touch on hate speech laws, free speech absolutism, and the uncomfortable tension between protecting people and controlling them. And we talk about the creeping pattern of government energy going into managing public perception rather than solving actual problems. But we also talk about what to do with all of that. Because the goal of most news media is to leave you anxious and clicking, not informed and empowered. So we finish where we always want to finish - with a redirect. Preppers panic early, but then they get to work. Identify what's out of your control, then turn your energy toward what isn't. Grow something. Build Something. Take your shoes off and go outside. The situation hasn't gone away. But you're still here, and so are we.
Last Week the Australian Prime Minister told citizens to Keep Calm and Carry On, the government has everything under control... but please don't fill up your jerry cans... even though we have plenty of fuel. This week we've seen leaders across the globe flip-flop and mix their messages across the board as they desperately try to maintain control of their questioning populations. In this episode we give an update to the situation facing farmers in Australia with news that supermarkets are attempting to bully farmers into bearing the brunt of this crisis. And we examine why leaders like Trump and Albo have resorted to name-calling and telling the public who they should and shouldn't listen to.RESOURCES & LINKS:Albo’s appeal to only watch the MSM:https://x.com/ausvstheagenda/status/2039569893566414854?s=42Two great Fuel / Oil Dashboards:FuelAustralia.orghttps://nzoilwatch.com/auSome Voices we’re listening to:Brandon Weichert https://x.com/WeTheBrandonAmerican geopolitical analyst, national security commentator, author of books like Winning Space, Biohacked, and The Shadow War, former congressional staffer, and host of The National Security Hour.Professor Robert Pape https://x.com/ProfessorPapeAmerican political scientist, Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago, and founder and director of the Chicago Project on Security and Threats (CPOST), specializing in international security, air power, terrorism, suicide bombing, and political violence.Canadian PrepperNate Polson, a Canadian YouTuber with over 1.35 million subscribers known for emergency preparedness, survival gear reviews, current events analysis, and discussions on societal collapse type eventshttps://www.youtube.com/@CanadianPrepper andhttps://www.youtube.com/@preppernewsflashBret Weinstein https://www.youtube.com/@DarkHorsePodEvolutionary biologist, author, and podcaster—former professor at Evergreen State College who resigned in 2017 after campus protests, now known as “Professor in Exile,” co-host (with his wife Heather Heying) of the DarkHorse Podcast, and co-author of A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century.Karl Stefanovichttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKarlStefanovicShowAustralian TV presenter (long-time Today co-host and 60 Minutes reporter) who now hosts The Karl Stefanovic Show, his unfiltered 2026 podcast/YouTube series on politics and current events, with no spin
