A two-sentence post in French said the left thinks of the world first and the right thinks of itself first, and the internet lost its mind. James walks through both sides: the science of the left's wider "moral circle," and the right's home-first case, from the oxygen mask to the charity data, church factor included. His take is that both sides care the same amount, they just disagree on the order and the route, and that the trouble starts when one side decides its way is the only caring one.
Plus Ahh Dude NO, the lawnmower treaty.

The clocks fall back this Sunday, and seventypercent of us want to stop switching. So why is it stuck?
James makes the case for permanent daylight saving time, then the case against it, from the 1974 experiment that lasted about eight weeks to what a 9 a.m. sunrise would mean for Michigan kids at the bus stop. Then he tells you where he lands on Trump, Tom Cotton, and letting states pick.

One black coffee, a spinning screen, and a kidwho just stands there waiting. Has tipping gotten out of control, or is the tip still the most honest paycheck in America?
James makes the case against the tip screen, then the case for tipping from the servers who fought to keep it, andthen tells you where he lands: tip the person, not the screen. Plus an Ahh Dude, NO on Gen X retirement math and the self-serve yogurt machine with a better retirement plan than you.

Dirty Politics: The Acton Mother Ad, Granny Off a Cliff, and Every Ad That Spins | The Rusty Mic Ep 6
Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign put Amy Acton's own mother in a TV ad calling her a liar. Is that dirty, or is it fair game? We don't trust the news because of what it spins and what it leaves out, and political ads pull the exact same trick. We play the full, uncut Ohio ad, then a run of ads from both parties that spun the facts: Granny off the cliff, the Romney cancer ad, the West Michigan ad that was "too conservative," and Trump's "they/them" ad.
Where I land: Amy Acton put her life story on the ballot, so her mother gets to tell her side. She's an adult running for governor, and I'm with Vance on this one. Then Gen X finds out it got left out of the news again.

You get carded for the good Sudafed behind the counter, for a plane ticket, and for every gun you buy. So why is the ballot box the one place where showing ID is too much to ask? The House passed the SAVE America Act 218–213, and the Senate's photo ID bill fell short 52–46. Here in Michigan, you can still vote without a photo ID by signing an affidavit.
I make the case for voter ID. Then I give the other side its best shot, including Georgia's own numbers and the 21 million Americans who don't have their papers handy. Then I tell you where I land. Show ID when you vote, pay for your own ID like I pay for my background check, and no grace period. Then a fellow Gen Xer goes to work somewhere nobody's carrying a wallet.
