A successful cloth merchant, suffering from business, is taken on a spiritual pilgrimage by a monk at the request of his sons. Despite the pilgrimage to holy places, the merchant remains focused on material gain. Even at the cremation ghat in Varanasi, he regrets not becoming a wood merchant. Sadhu concludes that the materialistic mentality of the merchant is irreversible.
