On this week's DITCOW NBA Report, Chris and Dave recap what became an exciting finish at the 2020 NBA All Star Game using the new "Elam Ending" system featuring an untimed fourth quarter that uses a set "Target Score" that the winning team has to reach.  The new format turned a runaway game for team Giannis into a single possession game, and eventual win for Team LeBron in the host city of Chicago.  Later, we catch up on other trade deadline news we missed between last week and this one, plus our second half predictions for the NBA: do the Pelicans make a run to the playoffs?  Who will be in the running for the tank-a-thon, and much more.

  • Podcast: Farewell Kobe: 1978-2020 (01-28-20)
On this DITCOW special, we share our thoughts and feelings on the horrific tragedy that took the lives Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, baseball coach John Altobelli, members of his family, and others on a helicopter headed toward the Newbury Park area.  Dave presents his perspective on one of the true greats in NBA history, and who he matured into as a man, his love of family, his many interests, and his indelible impact on the City of Los Angeles.  Though not a perfect person, Kobe imparted strong work ethic, a commitment to winning, and a thirst for knowledge and success.   We share why this will not soon be forgotten.  We hope to have our "NBA Report" co-host Chris in GA join us for this unofrtunately timed retrospective of a fascinating, remarkable life and the lives of others in the helicopter crash.   Later, a look at how the NBA has responded thus far.

  • Podcast: 2020 MLB Offseason Show with Ari and Gerry (01-23-20)
Gerry and Ari are back for this year's MLB Offseason Show.  The dominant topic for 2020 was the massive penalties for the Astros following MLB's investigation of their sign stealing in 2017.  Both the G.M. and Manager were suspended one year, followed by the Astros firing both persons outright.  The crew dig into why this was such a black mark for baseball, and how the suspensions were appropriate punishment, then speculate as to whether MLB should have gone even further with player punishments.  Afterwards, we get into collateral damage from the scandal: the Red Sox and Mets firing their respective managers Alex Cora and Carlos Beltran.  After that, we get into the numerous big transactions so far from the offseason.  Cole signs a giant contract to pitch for the Yankees, Rendon gets a pretty sizable contract to play third base for the Angels, and other big names move to new teams on a much better offeason than the 2019 offseason one year earlier.
