Welcome to the Say More Podcast! In this episode, Sarah introduces you to the Say More Podcast, her professional background, the mission of the podcast, and why she created this space. Her mission is simple, to destigmatize behavioral health and the conversations around it. This space is where mental health meets real life, where real people come together to connect and understand that behavioral health is just part of the human experience.
Host Bio: Sarah Ozycz, MS, LMFT is an independently licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Massachusetts with 15 years’ experience in the field of behavioral health. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut in Human Development and Family Studies, and a master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire in Marriage and Family Therapy. She completed a clinical internship with Concord Hospital Family Health Center Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency program during graduate school, and interned with the Child Life department at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary during her undergraduate career. Additionally, Sarah was a graduate assistant for the TRIO McNair Scholars Program at UNH, supporting traditionally underrepresented students in higher education preparing to enter a Ph.D. program.
For the past decade, she worked for a Fortune 20 managed care company supporting more than 2 million Massachusetts Medicaid members, and a network of large public health systems, to improve clinical and quality outcomes. Prior to her work in managed care, Sarah supported individuals, couples and families on the North Shore who struggled with mental health and substance use as both a clinician and a substance use group facilitator. Sarah is a strong advocate for behavioral health, health equity and improving access to care for all who need it.
Mission: The Say More Podcast mission is simple: to destigmatize behavioral health. While services exist across our communities and throughout the state of MA, we still face a critical gap in awareness, understanding, and action. Unfortunately, stigma, shame, and fear remain some of the most persistent barriers preventing people from seeking care or speaking openly about their experiences. We owe our communities better. We must challenge and replace the unhealthy narratives that keep people feeling stuck and isolated. Normalizing behavioral health isn’t just a public health priority, it’s a collective responsibility and a path toward stronger, more resilient communities. Nothing changes if nothing changes, and my mission is to be a catalyst for that change.
Goal: The goal of the Say More Podcast is to build a space where mental health meets real life. I want to normalize and model for our community that mental health can be talked about as easily as our favorite coffee spot. I want to engage in conversations about topics that are often not spoken of publicly, and quite frankly need to be. Where difficult conversations are met with compassion and empathy. The more we normalize behavioral health and the conversations around it, the more people may feel connected and inspired to make meaningful change in their life. In sharing our stories, we have the chance to offer connection, support, and validation - all central to the process of healing.
