This week on Scaredy Cat we're talking about: The Girl With All The Gifts. A beautifully made British zombie movie centered around a very special young girl who, coincidentally, has all the gifts. There's tragedy, tears, blood, killer plants (!!!), a very unfortunate cat, and a very sweet relationship between a teacher and her pupil. 

This week Scaredy Cat is bringing you our very first after school special! Join us as we talk about the 1936 flick meant to scare you straight: Reefer Madness. Not your traditional horror film, but the intended effects were pretty frightening. We discuss weird laws, the Hemp for Victory campaign, using pot to demonize immigrants, and some very questionable 1930's wardrobe choices.

This week on Scaredy Cat, Rob and Ash dive into the wild wild world of Hellraiser IV: Bloodline. We discuss the Alan Smithee effect, how Pinhead finally gets his groove back, and why untreated syphilis really is the root of all evil. This is the last film in the franchise that was theatrically released, and trust us... it's a doozy! 

Irish Garda (Police) Officer Lisa travels to Aran Island to take charge during a holiday weekend, but butt aliens from the planet Squid-Octopus put the residents in a bind that can only be solved one way... getting hammered. This brilliant little Irish gem is Hot Fuzz, Slither, Tremors, and Father Ted all wrapped up in one.

The year was 1992, and the rights to the budding Hellraiser franchise were being tossed around like a game of hot potato. After the failure of Clive Barker's "Night Breed" to attract a theater audience, he was forced to file bankruptcy on his New World Pictures film company and sold off the rights to a different company. They developed this film with some left over ideas from the first two in the attempt to bank some cash. What emerged from this pool is a mediocre entry in the Hellraiser franchise that has only a brief cameo from the original hero of the first two and a terrible dubbing job from everyone else.

Willem Dafoe, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Storm Acheche Sahlstrom (for a second) star in this odd little "horror" film from Director Lars Von Trier. Either he was dumped by a girl, or we are just not smart enough to figure this one out.
