It deals the story of coat of many colors and how Yoseph is taken down to Mitzrayim. We see the encounter with Potiphar’s wife and him being imprisoned. In addition, we have a side story of Yehudah and Tamar. This parsha continues with the conflict between brothers.

This is one of those parshot that I believe holds a prophetic picture and a foundational teaching to truly understanding scripture.   In this week’s parsha, we see Ya’akovreturning from exile.  After fleeing after Esav’s death threat, Ya’akov had no idea if Esav still hated him and wanted him dead.  We see Ya’akov making preparations and his wrestling with an angel.  Ya’akov’s name is changed.  The parsha includes the story of Dinah and Shechem and Shimon and Levi’s plot for vengeance, the birth of Ya’akov’s last son and the death of Rachel.  It ends with the listing of the descendants of Esav. 

Torah: Bereshit/Gen 28:10- 32:4

Haftorah: Hosea 11:7-12:14

This parsha is packed with lots of information and revelations. It begins with Ya’akov leaving and fleeing from Esav. Ya’akov is going to find a wife.  As Ya’akov leaves, he has a dream of aladder.  When Ya’akov arrives in Paddan Aram, he marries Leah and Rachel.  This parsha also covers the birth of 11 of the tribes of Yisrael.

One theme that I will focus on in this parsha is finding the bride.

This parsha covers the search for the bride of Yitzack.

In this parsha, we see a visitation of three malakim to Avraham, the fight over Lot’svisitors, and the destruction of Sodom and Amorah. We also see the birth of Yitzack andthe binding/sacrifice of Yitzack. We delve into who the three malakim are.

In this parsha, the focus is on YHVH choosing one family. It begins with the call of Avram, the famine in the land and going to Egypt, Avram and Lot choosingthe land they want, a war with kings, the encounter with Malkitzedek, the covenant made with Avraham, and the birth of Yishmael.
