This week’s portion contains the laws for the sacrifices/korbanot. This part of the Torah is one that is often misunderstood and probably the least studied. We are diving into whether the offerings and the Temple are still relevant for believers in Yeshua.

This parsha is a double portion- Vayakhel and Pekudei. As we look at these two parshot, we see that this seems like a repetition of the commands to build the mishkan. Here is actually when the work is taking place. We see the actual building and setting up of the mishkan.

This week, I really want to diverge from the reading as we have discussed the articles prior. As this week is on the action of building, I wanted to focus on the question “are we building the mishkan in ourselves?”

Exodus/ Shemot 30:11-34:35#torahstudy #biblestudy Parsha Ki Tisa describes how Yisrael contributes a half shekel for the census, receives final instructions for the Mishkan, and is reminded that Shabbat is the eternal sign of their covenant, but while Moshe is on Sinai the people panic and create the Golden Calf. Moshe shatters the tablets, intercedes for Yisrael, and pleads for God’s continued presence. God renews the covenant, Moshe carves new tablets, and the people begin again.

It begins with a shift from the construction of the Mishkan to the people who will serve within it, commanding the Yisraelites to bring pure olive oil for the ner tamid, the eternal flame, and appointing Aharon and his sons as priests. The parsha details the priestly garments—the ephod, breastplate, robe, turban, and golden headplate—each designed “for glory and beauty” to reflect the dignity of sacred service.
