Truly a Double Feature about creating your own hell, one movie using modern film techniques and the other a pioneering abstract horror movie that also defined the special year that was 1960.

On this S&A Schlocktober Lindsay and Andrew sit down for a Japan DIY Horror with Shinichi Fukazawa's Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell (1995 aka 2009) & Shinya Tsukamoto's Tetsuo The Iron Man (1989).

What starts of as a double looking at two independently made Japan Horror Movies, and Lindsay getting the works Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell in all kinds of configuration. It turns into a discussion on the joys of finding these kinds of movies. Whether it is someone handing you a blank VHS and saying you need to watch this, hearing about it in conversation or a snip-it on tv one night then hunting for it. Independent and DIY Movies isn't all always about the budget, it can be about the hunt.

This week we begin Schlocktober with the world of Kojo Suziki, the Well & the VHS Tape. Lindsay & Gabe travel that small volcanic island to visit Sadako. It's a Double of Hideo Nakata's Ringu (1998) & The George Iida' Spiral (1998). Both released on the same day in 1998. One an atmospheric adaption of Suziki's novel that focuses on the visual metaphors of a horror storytelling. The other tries to be more faithful to Suziki's more philosophical science fiction novels. One blew up, helping to create a new horror genre, the other a forgotten curiosity. But both important to the tale of The Ring. You have seven days......

On this S&A Presents MWHK we look at a legend from a land of legends. The East End of London and the story of the Kray Twins, who ruled the 1960s like an iron fist with The Firm, a brass knuckle and a well tailored suit from Savile Row.  Lindsay & Nadine will be sitting down for a Double of Peter Medak's The Krays (1990) & Brian Helgeland's Legend (2015)

And thus Schloctober 2026 begins! Before we get into the main event it is time for a Triple Feature. Because Demons come out at night. Jacques Tourneur's Night of the Demon (1957), James C. Wasson's Night of the Demon (1980) & Kevin S. Tenney's Night of the Demons (1988) - we have to end on a party! This is a triple witchcraft, curses, bigfoot, cults, possession & lipsticks. When you go looking for a Demon you often find it.

This Week on S&A Lindsay & Unholy Terrors Podcast's Pat Brennan hear the loud yell of the Yukuza. It's a Double of Kazuya Shiraishi's Blood of the Wolves (2018) & Juzo Itami's Minbo: The Gentle Art of Japanese Extortion (1992).

This is a Double that looks breaking down the mythology and aggrandizement of the Yukuza. One of these movies have tragic real world consequences.

This is a Double of two movies not alike in stature, but both very entertaining. And both examples of genres of which they were born. The Disaster Movie and The Hong Kong New Wave. Both incredibly influential genres.
