Yet another giant of the Northampton indie scene joins the boys on the sofa this week - James and Kyle from The Barratts... these boys have been around the scene for years and so they delve into how the band started, what their journey has been like and how lockdown has impacted the way they work as a band! They also delve into their best and worst gigs, including stories from supporting The Sherlocks and The Cast as well as playing abroad. Things take a more serious turn when the boys ask about the governments handling of the music industry over lockdown! This ends, as always, with them all shouting out some incredible up and coming artists: LEFT HAND LANE, PHANTOM ISLE, NICE GUY, WE DEMAND PARACHUTES. Elliott then takes a more out there turn, scoping the conspiracy that Kanye West is a prophet put in the earth by David Bowie to save the world... yeah I know!! The boys are back as a twosome this week after treating you all to a run of guests - let them know what you thought of them all and if there’s anyone you want to see next! There’s been some big news in the industry this week - as the lineup for Reading and Leeds 2021 has been released... It’s a controversial one! With six headliners included (is it too many?), Liam Gallagher being there (again), a lack of true punk acts and the complete omission of female acts!! This leads to a more general discussion about how woman are treated in the indie music industry and what needs to be done to change it for the better... including a look at themselves!! As always two up and coming bands are discussed - CALLOW YOUTH and LYONESS. They also have two new releases to check it: She by No vacancies and Head in the Clouds by SHADE. The guys have yet another guest on the now iconic sofa... Maxx Riley - the lead singer and bassist for Northampton Indie Soul Band ‘baby lung’. The lads jump right in to how Maxx got started, going through his long journey to the band he’s in now, including some success AND failure!! They then take a deep dive into the Northampton scene and what it’s like coming up through the town compared to bigger cities elsewhere!! This leads to the story of how Maxx actually dealt to Slowthai... okay it was only cans of tango, but still!! All 3 of them then also shout out some new artists as always: JORDAN MACKAMPA, JIMMY AND THE MOONLIGHTS, MANTIS STATE, BLACK TILES. Right boys... this is a big one!! An informal, honest, and ever so slightly drunk interview with the lead singer of Garden Band - Cam Pike. The boys discuss everything from how Cam got into music, his influences, how he battled against his haters and some truly disastrous gigs!! The stories about his band house in Leicester get the lads laughing, even if Cam is heavily judged for picking dark fruits as his drink of choice in the pub!! Despite this poor choice, the boys get Cam on the cava and all discuss an up and coming artist that they love, including THE SKINNER BROTHERS, THE OUTCHARMS and ALEX EBERT . This week the boys are discussing the battle of the decades, beginning with 90s vs 00s. Stat man Joe turns up the heat in this episode as he is throwing stats all over the gaff to support his theory that the 90s are much better than 00s. Elliott is not as convinced.
