Scripture memorization deserves to be a normal part of the Christian life. Yet, all too often, we view Bible memory as the spiritual equivalent of running a marathon. Since most people aren't running this marathon with us, it can be tempting to think we're going the extra mile in our walk with Christ by memorizing Scripture. In this episode, special guest Daniel Louis discusses "quiet consistency" in Scripture memorization. Rather than viewing it as a special achievement, Daniel views it as one of the most basic components of spiritual formation. Join us for this episode as we explore what it means to embrace Scripture memory as a normal and essential part of the Christian life.

Scripture memory has many uses, from evangelism to spiritual warfare, and even comforting our hearts in times of need. But one of its most potent purposes is public recitation. Imagine the impact of reciting memorized portions of the Bible during a worship service or ScriptureFest. It not only edifies God’s people but also challenges them to start their own Scripture memory journey. In this episode, we have a special guest, Aaron House, the Executive Director of Piercing Word Ministries. Piercing Word ignites passion for the Word of God in the heart of the Church, engaging people with live Scripture Performances. Earnest Christian parents are eager to begin discipling their children. However, we tend to have a romanticized or idealized image of it all. After the evening meal, the family will gather for instruction in the ways of the Lord. The children will sit quietly and soak up biblical teaching like a sponge. The reality proves different. Children are easily distracted and sometimes fight the very instruction they need. What do we do? This episode will discuss working with your youngest memorizers (preschoolers). We’ll answer some of the essential questions for doing this successfully. Tune in for another instructional episode of The Scripture Memory Podcast.

Most streaming services have a “Deep Cuts” playlist showcasing an artist’s more obscure songs. It is so rewarding to explore those tunes. We often find hidden gems. Consider Scripture memory in the same way. Of course, we want to memorize the Bible’s greatest hits. However, because “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16), the Holy Spirit has something to say and teach in every verse. Our souls will be nourished when we commit these more obscure passages to memory. In today’s episode. We will discuss the why and how of memorizing the Bible’s “Deep Cuts.” Tune in for another informative episode of The Scripture Memory Podcast.

Veteran and newbie memorizers alike are on the lookout for new tips and techniques to improve their Scripture memory. One of the best methods is also one of the most ancient – Scripture songs. Dating back to the Psalms and before, God’s people have sung His Word. Today’s guest is Adam Wright. Adam leads worship at his church and has a ministry dedicated to setting God’s Word to music called The Corner Room Music. Adam will speak to us about the importance of Scripture songs and how to utilize them for personal and congregational memorization.

The Lord wants us to use Scripture memory for His glory. Among other things, we memorize to obey God’s Word (Josh. 1:8), evangelize the lost (2 Tim. 3:15), and gain victory in spiritual warfare (Eph. 6:17). But what about prayer? Can we use Bible memory to empower our prayer lives? You bet. The Scriptures reveal God’s will for us. When we pray His Word back to Him, it invigorates our prayer life because we have confidence that we are praying according to His will (1 John 5:14). In this episode, our hosts will offer some ways you can incorporate Bible memory into your own prayer life and share a new resource from Scripture Memory Fellowship. As a general rule, it’s best to have a regular pace in your memory work. Sometimes, however, it can be valuable to have a season of what we call “High-Intensity Memorization.” This is a period of time – maybe a few days, maybe a few weeks – when you put the pedal to the metal and memorize as much Scripture as you can. This, of course, is challenging, but there are also some unique benefits to the approach. Our hosts will discuss H.I.M. while highlighting the pros and cons. Join us for another informative episode of The Scripture Memory Podcast.
