I review the last book I read in January, "The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion". Its an interesting look at how the foundations of morality, which there are six of them, explain how liberals, libertarians (classical liberals), and conservatives differ in their moral foundations that guide their political ideals.

Its a great must read if you are like me, and just want to dig around to see what the hell is going on. I need a rating system on this thing.

I review the Communist Manifesto. I do not endorse this ideology, however if you are curious about the doctrine that guides the utterances of the Democratic Socialists and also lead us to the deaths of over 100 million people. I recommend reading this to if nothing else have a better understanding of what it is libertarians, classical liberals and conservatives all have a major issue with.

Logan and I catch up on all the stuff going on in the political landscape, and as always I use a psychological lens to understand all this and learn more about what the hell is going on.

I review the book "The Undiscovered Self" by Carl Jung. This body of work was originally published in 1957 and discusses the shadow self, the divinity of the autonomous individual, religious creed as inoculation against collectivist ideology.

I also share some interesting stories from my job at the State Hospital. All information protected by HIPPA is withheld.

This week I review Christopher Browning's book "Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland.

This is a really good book that not only recounts what happened in Poland during the holocaust, but also investigates how middle aged noncareer military men engaged in unimaginable mass murder from a psychological perspective surrounding conformity and deference to authority.

I review two books on this episode because Gestalt Therapy may not be interesting enough to make it forty minutes long for that review. I discuss some of the concepts such as projection, which leads into a impromptu analysis of Hitler. Then I jump to the fundamental theories of dream analysis that Freud laid out in his book "Dream Psychology" and mention how he made many mistakes but his ideas are interesting.

Logan comes back on and we discuss the APA guideline nonsense. We take apart a conversation that turned into a complete disaster of straw and hay flying everywhere.

I state my position on the APA's guidelines for Men and Boys and agree that it is a declaration of war on traditional masculinity. Jordan Peterson talks about the follow up to 12 Rules for Life and I analyze three of the rules he talked about.

I spend around 45 minutes reviewing Maps of Meaning, Jordan Peterson's first book, which is a great book and I try to articulate why this book is important and ties into 12 Rules for Life as well. I then jump into my Steelman argument for and against Ocasio Cortes' 70% tax on the super rich, which is not a good idea. I then voice my opinions on the subpar writing of the last season of Doctor Who.

Last Episode for 2018. I did not record an episode for the Christmas weekend due to family. This episode I talk about my new job and the Diagnostic Criteria for Schizophrenia and delusional disorders in the DSM-5. I also discuss the themes from Maps of Meaning from what I have read.
